Gray War, by Peter Nealan

Hey guys, today I want to promote a new book from an author because he’s getting hosed by Amazon. Apparently the company which has made billions off of books and TV shows with guns on the cover thinks this cover is inciting violence.

Indy authors get a lot of freedom, but the downside is that they survive on the whims of a giant soulless megacorporation which makes automated decisions that may or may not ever have a thinking human actually examine.

So when that system screws up, the best thing we can do is still boost the author, tell our friends, and most importantly BUY THEIR BOOKS. Plus Peter, is a great author (and all around good dude), so please check it out and share it with any of your friends who are looking for a good action thriller.

We talked about it on this podcast, with me, Peter Nealen, Mike Kupari, Jason Anspach, Nick Cole, and Coop LoPresto (as well as a bunch of other interesting stuff)

    1. Amazon screwing over authors I really like reading. Really prefer electronically stored fiction. The dominant electronic ecosystem is Amazon. Dammit.

Thanks for giving us so many great stories Mr. Nealen.

      1. Unfortunately, when an ebook is enrolled in Kindle Unlimited it can’t be published elsewhere….not even to Overdrive (Libby) for libraries to use.

    2. Any plans to go wide after your KU period is up? I know certain genres do best in KU, but it seems odd to say, “Screw Amazon! Buy the book from Amazon!”

(Speaking as an author who’s considering skipping Amazon ebook/audio distribution altogether because of their behavior.)

    1. Just did the same. Why?

I don’t think it is a coincidence that certain groups and institutions get their little fingers twisting and whine loudest about books celebrating resistance against corruption and authoritarianism. “But… but… that’s *gasp* violence! They’re only taking money, rights and freedom. That doesn’t give you a right to use *gasp* violence!” *pearl clutching ensues*

You’d almost think they’re so stupid that they’ve been rooting for the dystopian side in all of Hollywood’s dystopian movies over the last several decades, like the point has sailed cleanly over their heads. It probably has.

  1. I just finished it last night, and pre-ordered the next one. Sorry you’re getting screwed Peter.

Sadly, I don’t have anyone to recommend this to. I’ve enjoyed everything of yours I’ve read. I’ll drop a review soon.

  2. I just purchased a copy. I consider it a minor political donation with a bonus of a good entertaining ‘read’!
Thanks for informing me of the opportunity to participate!

  3. There are already a couple in the que I was waiting to buy, but jumped this to the front because F Amazon that’s why.

  4. Bought it the other day and I really like it.

Then again I just buy all of Peter Nealen’s stuff out of habit, it’s all been good.

The Lost series, in particular, I’ve really been enjoying.

  5. Cause I don’t already have a big enough TBR pile! But I just went and picked up all the series… All the books in all the series I mean. In part cause anything that screws the Borg is GOOD!!

    1. That’s exactly what it is. At least, there are a couple of those in the book.

My biggest complaint is that the sequel isn’t ready.
