Another Kickstarter I’m backing

One cool thing about being a novelist is that you sometimes find that the creators of work you like, are also fans of yours. Shawn Carman is the lead writer for the Legend of the Five Rings game, and if you’ve seen my blog every Friday when I post the Writer Nerd Game Night serial fictions, then you know I’m a fan. Turns out Shawn is a fan of my stuff too, and all around really nice guy.

Judging from the huge response to the MHI Kickstarter (still coming right along, on schedule, thank you very much), it turns out I’ve got a lot of gamer fans. So here is a plug for Shawn’s new project:

Pathfinder is the Big Dog system in gaming right now. Even though I’m not currently playing any Pathfinder stuff, I’m still going to pick this up for gaming ideas. Shawn does really good work, so I figured this is a good KS to get behind. I hope you guys like it.

The Drowning Empire, Episode 12: A Moto won what?
Terms of Enlistment, a novel I got to proof read 3 years ago 🙂

  1. Man I wish I wasnt poor I would totally do a 3000 kickstarter donation to the MHI kickstarter to be a character in your book, that is awesome!

  2. I think Pathfinder is a great system. It’s really the older D&D3.5 system that’s been tuned up and improved. Some call it 3.75. I’m a sucker for steampunkiness, so I might have to seriously consider this one. I don’t spend a lot of time scouring KS for new things to throw money at, so thanks for the head’s up, Larry.

  3. Thanks for the plug, Larry! And thanks for the consideration, Tuco. I’ll be showing off a lot of previews over the next three weeks, so if you’re thinking about pledging, be sure to check in from time to time and see if we have anything that might make the decision a little easier.

Also yes, huge, huge fan of all of Larry’s work. I’m tempted to gush but I know if I do I’ll inadvertently spoil something from Legion, and then where will I be?

  4. I’ve been playing Pathfinder for a few months now, I really like it. I didn’t have a ton of gaming experience before trying it, mainly just the Star Wars 2nd Edition back when I was in high school. However, it’s been pretty easy to pick up and it is reasonably flexible. I’m really looking forward to the MHI RPG, can’t wait to try GM’ing a campaign with the group from my Pathfinder game.

  5. Although I am generally not a fan of the steam/industrial genre, I backed this on your recommendation. It might be nice to try something new and I am a sucker for new kickstarters. Pathfinder is a good system and, as stated above, for those who liked the D&D 3.5 system of gaming it is just an updated and polished version.
