Geeky Hobbies, somebody else's Kickstarter

Okay, I’ve been talking about mine a lot, but Dr. Bindy just posted here and gave me a head’s up on this Kickstarter that is nearly over. This is the company I used for guns and gear when I made my custom MHI action figures. http://larrycorreia.wordpress.com/2010/11/20/my-geeky-hobbies-2/

So check them out.

On a side note, looking at those MHI action figures, I totally need to do another batch of those. Over the last year I took up mini painting, so my painting skills have gotten way, way better. I think when the new GI Joe movie comes out, that means lots of new toys to chop up, which means Custom MHI Action Figures Series 2. 🙂

  1. I still think you should look at 12″ action figures. Cotswold Toys has their “Elite Brigade” line of action figures, and sell everyone else’s 12″ action figures, as well: http://www.gijoeelite.com/f_home.asp

Look under “Head, Hands, Figures” at the link for a lot of choices in customisable action figures. And if the heads ain’t exactly what you want, well, you’ve become quite skilled at painting small things…

    1. Holy moly… I’ve got no idea. Jesus. But then I’d probably feel guilty the whole time for not being very good at the whole love and forgiveness stuff. 🙂

  2. Hey larry, I’m a customizer that wants to do a six inch line with at least Z and Julie. (adding Earl after reading Alpha) Is the Rpg gonna have good reference of the main characters or just mostly the monsters? If I’m gonna spent a lot of time making something, I’d like it to be based on more than just my concepts. Any suggestions? Maybe somebody has done some art for you?

    1. There is going to be a ton of art in the new book, including character illustrations. Though obviously, however you imagine them in your head is the correct way they should look. 🙂

  3. Larry, thanks a ton for being so gracious in posting this. I’ve got no stake in the matter, other than wanting to see quality resources always stay available for customizers. And of course to support a top notch supplier and all around good guy.

I too have some Joe scaled MHI customs on the drawing board.

I’ve noticed your paint skills improving exponentially on the miniatures. Can’t wait to see how that translates to 1:18 scale.

And if you ever want to talk shop on customs look me up 😉
