The real rally, by Ken O'Donnell

After poking fun at the idiotic media coverage of the big rally yesterday, let’s get a first hand account from somebody who was actually there.

I know Ken from www.thehighroad.org He shared his experiences, and they were condensed and posted over at The Noisy Room:  http://noisyroom.net/blog/2010/08/31/the-restoring-honor-rally-a-first-hand-report/  You really should check that out.

I’ve known Ken online for a very long time. He’s a good man, and if that’s how he said it was, then that’s how it was.

  1. I read the noisy room account of the rally, then I found a Huffington Post entry about it. It made me sad.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/29/glenn-beck-restoring-hono_n_698172.html

They feature a video by the Coalition to stop Gun Violence. They say that although the rally wasn’t supposed to be political, the attendees weighed in on political subjects like guns and immigration. I wanted to scream at the computer, “THAT’S BECAUSE THE GUY MAKING THE VIDEO ASKED THEM ABOUT THOSE SUBJECTS!!!!!!!!!”

So they used, of course, the worst responses. Do you think that in a crowd of many thousands of people, that you might run into a few who are a little outspoken? Do you think they might be inclined to give a flippant response to a guy with a camera who is interrupting their nice rally by getting in their face and peppering them with questions? Do they think people are so stupid as to accept the face value of their little youtube video? What does it say about the Huffington Post’s credibility when they pick up and run a video by an organization with such an obvious agenda?

I didn’t get a chance to hear the rally, but now I want to find video of it so I can see what the hubbub is all about.
