Another new audiobook from me: Into the Storm

Coming in February:

Into the Storm (3)

http://www.audible.com/pd/Sci-Fi-Fantasy/Into-the-Storm-Audiobook/B00HS1WT4Y/ref=a_search_c4_1_8_srTtl?qid=1389889930&sr=1-8

You don’t need to be familiar with the game to enjoy this book. Think of it as a sort of heroic fantasy/steampunk mashup, and my story is a Dirty Dozen/Band of Brothers of knights armed with mad science lightning swords and giant steam powered battle robots.

If you’ve not read it yet, you can get it here: http://rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&bc1=000000&IS2=1&bg1=FFFFFF&fc1=000000&lc1=0000FF&t=monshuntnati-20&o=1&p=8&l=as4&m=amazon&f=ifr&ref=ss_til&asins=B00EUSMLLE

So all of my Privateer Press stuff will be available in Audiobook form as well. This is the other if you missed it, Instruments of War:

http://www.audible.com/pd/Sci-Fi-Fantasy/Instruments-of-War-Audiobook/B00H88DNRY/ref=a_search_c4_1_9_srTtl?qid=1389889930&sr=1-9

Once again, you don’t need to know the game world to enjoy this novella. I wrote it so that anybody could jump in. This one is about a race known as the Skorne, who make Klingons look like peace loving hippies. Their society is built on war and their magic is based on torture. I’d say they’re not evil, they’re just misunderstood, but naw, they’re totally evil, and awesome to write. 🙂

And the book is here: http://rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&bc1=000000&IS2=1&bg1=FFFFFF&fc1=000000&lc1=0000FF&t=monshuntnati-20&o=1&p=8&l=as4&m=amazon&f=ifr&ref=ss_til&asins=B00C77NL0A

And I’ve not even listened to either of these yet! The narrators asked me a ton of questions and went through how I imagined various characters sounding, so I’m pretty excited.

And stay tuned for more exciting Audible related news in the near future. 🙂

EDIT!  Almost forgot, since I’ve been on a Sad Puppies 2 kick all month, and I’m talking about the stuff I wrote for Privateer Press, check this out too:

http://rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&bc1=000000&IS2=1&bg1=FFFFFF&fc1=000000&lc1=0000FF&t=monshuntnati-20&o=1&p=8&l=as4&m=amazon&f=ifr&ref=ss_til&asins=B00DHS08Z4

Seriously, you’ll thank me. It is about a character who is a complete hulking psychopath. And who better to write about psychopaths than Dan Wells? It is getting my nomination for best novella for the Hugo. It is the best novella sized thing I read all year. Also, it will make the literati explode because it is GAME TIE IN FICTION!  (plus, I bet a complete stranger on the internet $5 that I could get this nominated for a Hugo) 🙂

SAD PUPPIES 2: The Illustrated Edition

It is that time of year again, when I make a heartfelt plea to my fans to nominate some good stuff for the Hugo awards. And this year I’ve added cartoons!

For the full interactive media effect as you read this VERY SPECIAL MESSAGE you should open this link in a new window and play this song in the background: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSz16ngdsG0

Note. I am a writer, not a cartoonist. However, since everybody seemed to like the silly cartoons I did for the special Kickstarter autographs I figured this was worth a shot.

Okay, click on it to blow it up. I have no idea what I’m doing. 🙂

Live from YMM

EDIT: Reader Steve Skojec made a helpful video for Voice Over guy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzGKlOkQsxY

VOICE OVER GUY: The ugly truth is that the most prestigious award in sci-fi/fantasy is basically just a popularity contest, where the people who are popular with a tiny little group of WorldCon voters get nominated and thousands of other works are ignored. Books that tickle them are declared good and anybody who publically deviates from groupthink is bad. Over time this lame ass award process has become increasingly snooty and pretentious, and you can usually guess who all of the finalists are going to be that year before any of the books have actually come out or been read by anyone, entirely by how popular the author is with this tiny group.

This is a leading cause of puppy related sadness.

CorreiaTech CFO, Wendell the Manatee.

wendell2 (2)

Thank you, Wendell. Profound words indeed.

For just $40 you can register as a supporting member for WorldCon and nominate up to five works in every category. This year Warbound, the last book of the Grimnoir trilogy is eligible. And since FDR is actually one of the villains this book will make literati heads explode!

Only you can make literati heads explode.*

*Disclaimer. Literati heads might not literally explode.

But wait. There’s more! Normally all of the voters are sent a packet of all the nominated works to read, so you get more than your membership costs worth of eBooks. Sure, most of them are screeds about corporate greed, global warming, dying polar bears, or whatever the left wing cause of the day is, but that’s why we need to nominate some works that are actually entertaining.

If you would like to register to vote for the Hugos, you need to buy a supporting membership here http://www.loncon3.org/memberships/ before January 31st.  For those of you who are already registered, or who took part in Sad Puppies 1, you are already eligible to nominate here, http://www.loncon3.org/nominations.php

Thank you for your support.

Okay, seriously. I don’t know how cartoonists do it. Writing is WAY easier.

Challenge Coin Update! Free Books! Lots of Stuff!

The coins are coming in.
Coin PUFF
They look better in person too.

Coin MCB

So things are starting to arrive at Jack’s place. Boxes have entirely taken over one room of his house.

Coins
Now there is still the matter of sorting out 1,000 some odd orders, each one a little different, and also matching up serial numbers (and we didn’t realize they’d just toss all of the into a box, so that’s going to take some effort), and Jack has to take off for a few days for SHOT Show, but even with that you should all have your coins pretty soon. Sweet.

Now for our next item of business, remember everybody,

sad puppy

it is time for Sad Puppies 2: Rainbow Puppy Lighthouse, The Huggening!

http://larrycorreia.wordpress.com/2014/01/07/back-from-texas-and-now-it-is-sad-puppies-season-2/ For the approximate price of dinner for two at Applebees you can support awesome books winning fancy Hugo awards and drive the literati insane!  You get samples of all the nominees in all the categories, but more importantly you get to make your voices heard. No more boring, pretentious literati-wannabe dreck! You just need to register before the end of the month.

Vote for Warbound!

Also, they are testing the Baen Mobile App right now and are looking for feedback. So I am going to give away some free Baen Books. I’ve got ten books (of your choice) to give away, so this is what we’re going to do. Send an e-mail to mobile@baen.com and tell them that Larry sent you. The first TEN responders will be given a voucher for a free book which you can download from the Baen mobile app. That’s why I’m putting this one last, because I know that email address is about to get hammered. TEN. That’s 10 of you. That’s what Baen Mobile offered. So it is a race to see who can email the fastest. Go get yourself a free book! EDIT: THE BOOKS ARE GONE. YOU CAN QUIT BUGGING BAEN NOW. 🙂

Back from Texas, and now it is Sad Puppies Season 2!

I flew in from Texas late last night. I had a good time at Space City Con. I got to hang out with some old friends, meet new ones, and the NASA tour was pretty sweet. We got the VIP treatment at NASA, played with Robonaut and hung out in Apollo Mission Control.  If I had more time right now I’d put up some pictures, but I’ve got to go wrap up Monster Hunter Nemesis and like a billion other things. Writing at a con is impossible for me.

And a heads up, it is time for Sad Puppies 2: Rainbow Puppy Lighthouse, The Huggening to begin. For those of you who weren’t readers last year, Sad Puppies 1 was my attempt to poke the humorless literati in the eye by getting MHN a Hugo nomination. When all was said and done, my entire slate for every other category got nominated except for me, and I missed the final 5 best novel noms by a handful of votes, with a final tally that would have put me in the top 3 any previous year. Which is quite the achievement, considering my regular reading audience isn’t exactly the WorldCon type. 🙂

HOWEVER, all of you who signed up last year are eligable to nominate again for this year with no additional cost. And for anyone else who wants to jump in, you just need to buy a voting membership before the end of the month.

http://www.loncon3.org/hugo_awards.php

There will be SO MUCH more about this as the month goes on, because I will tug at your heartstrings with the piteous mewling of sad eyed pulp novelists who have been abused by the literati elite.

EDIT: ( To clarify this will be for Warbound, the end of the Grimnoir trilogy, which is actually pretty damned awesome, and has already won or been nominated for other fancy awards in multiple countries, so it isn’t like I’m just pulling this whole thing out of my butt. )

Sad Puppy

This is the saddest puppy of them all, because it belongs to my publisher.

Won’t someone please think of the puppies?

EDIT: Here is last year’s saga of heart rending agony and sadness.
