I talked to Don Blyly this morning at Uncle Hugos. I’m flying out there at the end of April to autograph a whole bunch of books (including personalizations if you request them). He ordered early to make sure they will be there in time.

There are only a few thousand hard covers getting printed but tons of trade paperbacks. Don has sold through most of the hard covers that he’s ordered already, so if you want one, you should probably go order it now. He doesn’t charge until the order ships.

Once I get back from Minnesota, then I’m leaving on the mega-trip across the west.

P.S. I’ve mentioned this before, but if you haven’t sent in your Hugo nominations and you’re attending or have attended WorldCon so you’re eligible to vote, I’m eligable for the Campbell award this year for best new writer, as are my friends Dan Wells and John Brown. Writing Excuses is a related work, as is the excellent Elitist Book Reviews site. Brad Torgersen (Outbound), Eric James Stone (Levithan whom thou hast made) have eligable shorts and novellas that are awesome. Best graphic story has got to be Schlock Mercenary by Howard Tayler.  Toni Weiskopf, Laura Haywood Cory, and Jim Minz are all up for best editor.  So if you can, go nominate! The deadline is very soon.

Let me tell you about how professional Oliver Wyman is. Every time there was some weird gun/monster word that was either obscure and hard to pronouce (Or I’d just made it up) he contacted me. We talked about where every character was from for their accents and cadence. Acronyms, spelled out? Oliver was a pro the entire time.

So now you can take MHI and MHV on your commute. These are unabridged, so they are epic in size. This is the kind of audio book that would’ve come on 20 CDs back in ye olde tymes.

Why not as many big blog posts lately?

I’ve still been posting, but they’ve mostly been small things or book updates. There hasn’t been any little fiction, reviews, or political rants lately, mostly because I’ve got an absolutely killer deadline to meet for Grimnoir 2. (MHA & D6 are done and in).

A slot opened up much earlier than expected and my publisher offered it to me. This wasn’t the kind of thing that you turn down. However, when I agreed that I could have the whole novel written in 4 months, I kind of forgot about the multiple cons in there, some events, a few booked weekends, and two annual audits at my day job (got to love the 1st quarter!).

I will have the book done in time. For example, I wrote 14,000 words this weekend, so I am on track. However, that’s cut into the blogging time. So I’m still here, and I still love you all. (in a strictly platonic sense of course) 🙂

Why the Monster Hunter Nation is so awesome

Yesterday I posted that Dead Six had gone up on Amazon for pre-ordering. The cover isn’t even there. Heck, my co-author doesn’t even show up on it yet. (I will get that fixed) It was at ranked at one and a half million and something out of five million books.

Amazon Bestsellers Rank: #13,931 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

He he he… And I don’t even know what Men’s Adventure is!  But our book that isn’t out for 7 months is in the top 100 of it. 🙂

EDIT: Just looked, apparently “Men’s Adventure” is where they put Clive Cussler, Conan, and Fight Club. Okay, I can handle that. Though it looks like we’re actually #76 if you scroll down the list.  Hmm… to get into the top 100 on fantasy I need to be in the top 4,000 or so overall. This genre must not be as competitive.

EDIT: Looks like I book bombed myself.
