MHI Savage Worlds Kickstarter Update, funded in 3 hours

The Kickstarter for the new MHI RPG went up yesterday morning. We were funded by lunch time. We unlocked our first stretch goal last night (adding in Bubba Shacklford’s original Professional Monster Killers from the 1890s).

In the first 24 hours we got to $34,000. That’s awesome.

To put this into perspective, the last MHI RPG back in 2012, we did $80,000 total in a month, and that was a big success (at the time that got us into the top 10 of RPGs ever on Kickstarter). Now, we’re almost halfway to that total at the beginning of day 2.

You guys rock.

The next stretch goal is adding in more art pieces to the book, and after that we’ll be adding in info for the 1980s era seen in the Monster Hunter Memoirs series.

For those of you who aren’t gamers, but just MHI fans, the book is going to be filled with fluffy information about the universe, character bios, backstory, history, and bits of original fiction. Plus lots and lots of new artwork.
For those of you who want to get into RPGs, this time we are using a system that is fast to learn, and easy to play. You’ll also need the Savage World’s basic rule book. You can find that online or on Amazon for like $10-$15, but I  recommend getting it directly from Pinnacle Entertainment https://www.peginc.com/ because when you purchase the physical book they also throw in the PDFs, which are handy to have on your phone or iPad.

My favorite thing about Savage Worlds is that once you get the basic system down, then there are a ton of different settings out there you can use for it. Using these same rules I’ve played Deadlands (old west horror), Achtung Cthulhu (Cthuluh in WW2), and I home brewed a sci-fi game based on Infinity the war game. Once you get the basic mechanics down, it really is simple, and the whole stat block for any bad guy will fit on a 3×5 card.

Monster Hunter International, Savage Worlds RPG Kickstarter NOW LIVE!

This just barely went live:

For those of you who haven’t heard, we are doing a new Monster Hunter International table top role playing game, this time using the super quick to learn, easy to play, Savage World rule set.

This is going to be awesome.

EDIT TO ADD: Please tell your friends! 😀

MHI ammunition, now in .45 ACP. Available for Pre-Order

I’m probably the only fantasy novelist who has his own line of ammunition.

The 9mm bullets, both loaded cartridges and just the bullets for reloading purposes have been a huge hit. So by popular demand, they have added .45. If you’ve got any technical questions about the ammunition, please ask the manufacturer. I’m just the writer.  😀

And for kicks and giggles, you can get it in a few different boxes. Collect them all.

And people kept asking about silver bullets, but that means they haven’t check out silver prices lately. But they’ve done something neat there.

Silver Tungsten Bullets 1
SilverTungstenBullets 2

Here is an explanation from the company:

Experimental AMMO! These bullet jackets are infused with a dry lubricant compound of 99.99% silver and tungsten disulfide. This ammo is still in testing against creatures with vulnerabilities to silver. If they prove to be less effective against werewolves please let us know!

After the 9mm 124 gr. FMJ FP MHI bullet, with the Monster Hunter International logo on the flat point was introduced, lots of folks have been asking for a .45 caliber version. So “Ask, and ye shall receive”! Larry gave permission to do a limited run of .45 bullets! These are .45’s just like the bullets real Monster Hunters shoot, except, well, they aren’t made of silver. If we offered silver bullets we’d have to increase the price substantially, and only real monster hunters could afford them! They still will work great for your normal, non-magical monsters, though.

You are looking at bullets from a limited run of our 230 grain FMJ Flat Nose line that include the Monster Hunter International logo stamped on it’s face. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Monster Hunter International (MHI), it is a book series written by Larry Correia. We highly recommend reading them if you haven’t already. If you’ve already read the books then you know why it’s such an awesome thing for Larry to allow us to use his logo on our bullet. Also, if you haven’t yet read the MHI books or anything else written by Larry Correia, please consider giving them a try. We love his books and I think you will too.

Brief Update Post

I am crazy busy. If you have sent me an email, I’ll get back to you when I can.

Sarah Hoyt just sent me her rough draft for Monster Hunter Guardian. I’ll be working on that.

Also, I’m trying to get House of Assassins done by my self imposed deadline of Christmas.

So that’s two books I’m trying to knock out before the end of the year. It probably won’t happen, but I’m giving it a shot. I think the whole concept of Nanowrimo is great, because it gets newbies motivated, but I’ll tell you, once you get to doing this stuff professionally, every month is Nanowrimo.

There will be a few blog posts coming up (there are some fun announcements) but I’ll be avoiding Facebook like the time sucking plague that it is.

The kickstarter for the new MHI RPG will be launching any day now. I’ll post as soon as it goes live.

I should have a release date for Tom Stranger 2 soon as well.

I’ve got a story in Unstoppable, the new Joe Ledger anthology

Jonathan Maberry is a great author, and we’ve traded short stories back and forth for each other’s projects. One of these just came out last week, and I had a lot of fun writing it.

The series is about a covert operative and his agency of bad asses who take care of mad science problems. There are a few leadership and support characters in there that are pretty fun, so I asked to write about some of those guys (Rudy and Mr. Church) dealing with the fallout of an operation gone wrong. It’s called Psych Eval, and it gets a little horrific. Plus I got to write it to a David Bowie soundtrack. You’ll see. 🙂
