First off, forgive the lack of blogging. It has been nuts. So here is a brief update so that you guys know I’m still alive.

Book Stuff

House of Assassins has been turned in to Baen.

I’m currently working on Monster Hunter Guardian.

I have another project I’m working on that I’ll be able to announce soon. I’m editing an anthology with someone else, and as soon as we get our last couple of contracts back from the authors, I’ll be able to talk about it and say who is in it.

Monster Hunter Memoirs: Saints is out July 3rd.

Target Rich Environment is out September 4th.

Misc. Other Stuff

Now this is why I’ve not been blogging!

Back in February I hurt my elbow lifting weights. I’ve been having to go to physical therapy. It’s getting better, but what a time suck!

We have started excavation on Yard Moose Mountain. It is a gigantic project.  It is also a time suck because when you are developing a piece of property there are lots of little crises that pop up. You’ve got to deal with a bunch of different state and county agencies, and irrigation districts. You’ve got to jump through hoops. There’s meetings with contractors and the bank. There is SO MUCH STUFF.

And last week our Ford Expedition died, so we’ve been vehicle shopping. Right now we’re trying to decide what to get. The limiting factors being that I need something that can haul my exceedingly tall family around in, 4WD, and I like to buy cars outright. (too many years as an accountant dealing with depreciation and interest to like making payments).

Then we are also car shopping, because Correia 2.1 will be leaving for college soon, and we’re sending her off with my old beater car. But I don’t really want to get anything too nice to replace it, because 2.2 will be leaving a couple of years after that.

March Update Post

Lots of stuff going on, which is why very little blogging.  I’m swamped, so this is going to be a quick update.

First up, personal business, this week was our 20th anniversary.

As you can see, I got fatter and balder, and Bridget still looks awesome.

In other personal news, physical therapy is a time suck. I miss weight lifting and I’m having to shoot left handed, but my stupid elbow is getting better.  So yay!

Next up, book stuff:

I have a few things releasing this year, up next will be the third and final book of the Monster Hunter Memoirs, with John Ringo, Saints, which will be out in June. Then in September will be my short story collection, Target Rich Environment.

I’m working on the edits for House of Assassins, sequel to Son of the Black Sword. It will be out in 2019. Kurt Miller is doing the cover. I teased an early look at that on Facebook, but I’ll post the final up here as soon as I’ve got it.

I’m also working on Monster Hunter Guardian with Sarah Hoyt, it will also be out 2019.

Then I’ll be working on Destroyer of Worlds, the book after House of Assassins.

I’ve also got the collaborations with Steve Diamond and John Brown in the works.

There is another project where I’m one of the two editors, but I don’t think we’ve got all the contracts in yet, so I won’t say anything about that yet. But it’s pretty awesome.

Yard Moose Mountain Update:

We are moving right along. Up next is a bunch of road construction so we can get heavy vehicles up and down safely. Half a mile of driveway up hill is serious business.

The plan is to break ground for the house in the next few months, and then it is full speed ahead. This project will still take a while though, because its a pretty big structure.

I’m going to be a guest at Origins, LibertyCon, and Salt Lake FanX. I’m also going to GenCon, but I’m not planning on being a guest. I’m going as a regular dude to play games, buy stuff, run the new MHI RPG, and do demos of it and hopefully another cool project.

It is Book Bomb Day!

A Book Bomb is when we pick out a deserving author who could use a publicity boost, and get as many people as possible to buy their book in the same day on Amazon. The more people who buy, the higher it goes in the sales rankings. Once it gets on some bestseller lists, that gets it in front of even more new eyes. Success breeds success, the author gets new readers, and most importantly, the author GETS PAID.

Today’s Book Bomb is for my friend Mike Kupari’s brand new sci-fi novel, Sins of Her Father.

Many of you will recognize MIke’s name. That’s because he was my coauthor on the Dead Six series of thrillers. He’s launched his solo career doing sci-fi novels. And these are old school throw backs, to when sci-fi was fun adventure, with rocket ships and their brave crews visiting new worlds, meeting interesting people, and shooting them.

Mike is a great story teller. If you’ve not read him before, I’d recommend grabbing his other solo novel, Her Brother’s Keeper. Also, if you’ve not read Dead Six, Swords of Exodus, or Alliance of Shadows, by me and Mike, you are missing out. Those are a lot of fun.

A little about the author, Mike Kupari is a former EOD Tech. His first novel came out when he was stationed at a little FOB in Afghanistan. Now he’s living in Arizona. But I’ve known Mike for a long time. We wrote the story that would become Dead Six together, posting a couple thousand words every other day, all summer, live on an internet gun forum. We worked together at my gun store, and taught pistol classes together.

So please tell you friends, share the link, spread the word. Mike is a good dude, so let’s get him as many new readers as possible.

I’ll be updating the sales ranks as they change. Amazon used to update every hour, and that got crazy. But now they’ve instituted a long delay so we won’t really see a ton of movement until tonight. (assuming it is still the same was as last time)

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Book Bombs, that’s when we all get behind an author who could use a publicity books, and get as many people as possible to buy their book on the same day. This boosts it through the sales rankings on Amazon, and the higher it gets, the more new people see it.  The author gets a lot of new fans, and more importantly GETS PAID.

In this case, the author in question is Mike Kupari, who many of you will remember as my coauthor on the Dead Six series. Well since then Mike has launched his solo career. He is an awesome story teller.

Tuesday is the release day for his 2nd sci-fi novel, Sins of Her Father. The first one, Her Brother’s Keeper, was great. It’s like the old school sci-fi we loved when we were kids. Space ships, exploration, adventure, pirates, battles, and all around cool stuff done really well.
