Got a new job

I was hired for a new job today. I’m really excited as this is one heck of a good opportunity and a really awesome company.

I’ve been unemployed-writer guy for three months now. So for those of you worried about the writing, don’t. I’ve got one heck of a head start! In 3 months I revised my 2nd draft of a novel, wrote the rough draft of another novel, and I’m not 1/4 through ANOTHER one.

So basically I’ve got about 3 1/2 books ready to sell depending on how MHI fares come July, MHI:2, Dead Six & Exodus (from Mr. Nightcrawler), and I’ve started the Grimnoir Chronicles.  I’m going to have to come up with a pen name so I don’t saturate the market. (“Oh man, not another Correia book. This guy never shuts up”)

I’m pumped for this new place.  It is back in the world of finance, but I’m excited about this one.  I’ve been a cog in a giant coroprate machine, I’ve been THE finance department of a small company that I started myself, and now I get to move into management of a mid-size operation that I’m really excited about.

More on the Dell Power Supply

I got lots of great offers of help, which is greatly appreciated. But I needed to post more information.

It came with a Dell Inspirion

65W-AC Adapter

Model No: LA65NS0-00

PA-12 Family

DP/N: DF263

PA-1650-06D3

Input: AC 100-240V – 1.5A(1.5A)

50-60Hz

Output: DC 19.5V(19.5V) 3.34A(3.34A)

But now I’m worried that it isn’t the powersupply and that I broke the solder on the laptop itself. Darn it. I’m using my desktop, which is very old and slow, and it is in my “office” which is an unfinished room in the basement that is 20 degrees colder than the rest of the house. (which is good for the food storage though!) So it isn’t conducive to writing.

Anybody got a Dell laptop Power Supply sitting around they aren't using?

I do most of my writing on a Dell laptop. The battery is toast and only lasts about 1 minute if not plugged in, so I just keep in plugged in.  But that’s been fritzing out, so if you bump it, or look at it funny, it quits charging, and then 1 minute later the laptop hibernates. Which sucks when you’re on a 5,000 word writing spree and you have to keep stopping to jiggle your cord. (and yes, I know how that sounds)

Radio Shack has a universal laptop power supply, but it is $99. Which seems absurd for something that probably cost $3 to make in China.

So do any of you guys have a laptop power supply sitting around that you aren’t using? Mine is a Dell 65W-AC Adapter. Model No. LA65NS-0-00.  PA-12 family.

I don’t know if these things interchange, but I just need something, that preferably doesn’t cost $99.
