Thank you for supporting capitalism!

The MHI Challenge Coin Kickstarter is over. We hit 3380% of our goal, with 1,096 backers pledging $101,396.

Woot. That is all. 🙂

We have already had the mint start production. Once Kickstarter processes all the payments and sends out a list we will send your backer survey so you can specify exactly what coins and add ons you want. The sooner we get all of those back, the better, so we can have a more accurate count for production. We’re going to try and get these out the door as quickly as possible.

Thanks again. The Monster Hunter Nation is amazing.

Only 9 hours left!

The Kickstarter has entered the last few hours. And I’ve got a flu, and have just taken Nyquil before bed, so I am typing this under the influence.

We are at the threshold of breaking $100k!  $93,340, with 9 hours remaining. 3278% funded with 1062 backers. I really am surprised.

As much as I’d like to stay up all night hitting refresh every few minutes, I need to turn in. See you in the morning!

The MHI challenge coin Kickstarter has entered the final 24 hours

We have entered the last 24 hours of the MHI Challenge Coin Kickstarter.

This has been an unbelievable ride. As of right now we are 3098% funded, with $92,929 and 1001 backers. That’s way bigger than I expected.

So if you want to change your pledge or add anything else this is pretty much it. 🙂

Once Kickstarter charges everyone they will send us a final tally. We will be sending out backer surveys immediately after that. I’d like to ask a favor. Please get us back those surveys as quickly as you can so we can have accurate counts. We are going to be pushing as hard as we can to try and get everything produced and shipped before Christmas.

Thanks. The Monster Hunter Nation rocks.

The Kickstarter is in the last 72 hours

I just posted the following update:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/451021352/monster-hunter-international-challenge-coins

this is a heads up for the procrastinators, we have reached the last 72 hours of the Kickstarter. 🙂

I’ve been getting asked if there will be any more stretch goals. This was a tough decision, but probably not. Jack and I talked it over on Friday and had to make a call. Here is a peak behind the curtain for our reasoning.

When we started this project we originally wanted to start several weeks earlier than we were able to. The goal was to have everything done and out the door in plenty of time for Christmas. However we had a technical hold up getting everything approved by Kickstarter, so we launched late. So now it is still possible. Barely. But we will be cutting it really close. So in order to still try and reach our original goal of these being usable as Christmas presents, we sent the artwork over to the mint early so they could start working on the items. This way we could knock a time consuming part of the process out of the way. So now we *might* make it, if everything on the production end goes okay. If we add any more new designs now, then there is no way we’re going to make it.

People have been asking about add ons like display cases, belt buckles, and things of that nature, but those are expensive for you guys and risky to us. One of the dangers of Kickstarter for small operations is that they overextend themselves. Everybody loves stretch goals! So they keep throwing on more stuff, and then they end up hurting themselves in the end because they added something groovy, but failed to meet the minimum order quantity for that particular item and ended up buying a bunch of extra inventory to sit on.

So between the timing and the goal of making Christmas and the risk of overextending ourselves, we decided not to add any more stretch goals.

When we first came up with this idea, I figured that at most we’d raise enough money to do 10 designs, tops. Instead we unlocked 13, with 3 add on items. I never expected this project to be this big. That’s what I get for underestimating the Monster Hunter Nation, because you guys rock.
