Challenge Coin belt holders

Since we are busy taking orders for the second run of MHI challenge coins, I figured I’d show you guys something pretty nifty that Wes from Privateer Leatherworks did. Wes makes excellent leather holsters, and he made these for me. They’re challenge coin holsters for your belt.

Coin holders

That would actually be really nifty for military unit coins and things like SHOT, where guys are coining each other for street cred, and failure results in purchasing beer. (I was the cake eating civilian of the bunch, so I just kind of stood there)

Coin holder front

It is just a belt loop on back. It is really solid.

I don’t know what Wes would charge for these. He just made some for me as a proof of concept. You can contact him at:  http://www.privateerleather.com/  And I recommend his work. He just made a couple holsters for my 4.15 that are really nice.

Reminder, we are only taking orders for the coins until the end of the month https://monsterhunternation.com/2015/08/17/series-ii-challenge-coins-now-taking-orders/ I think we’re going to extend that a few days though because we had several people point out they get paid on the first, but after that we’ll round up a bit and submit a bulk order. When those coins are gone, they are gone.

Writing Contest on the Forum

Okay, this is pretty cool. Over on the Monster Hunter International: Hunters Unite fan page on Facebook, somebody put up some cool artwork, and it led into a discussion about the story ideas inspired by that artwork, and the next thing you know my people decided to write some short stories based on it, and Jack and Jennifer turned it into a writing contest. I’m not involved, am not judging, (and my usual rule of thumb about any online fiction related even vaguely to my work I can’t ever admit to reading it) but figured you guys might think these are neat. You can leave your comments about the stories at the link. I think Jack is sending swag to the winner.

Series II Challenge Coins- now taking orders!

This post is from Jack. We’re ready to start taking orders for coin series 2. I think he did an absolutely fantastic job on these, and in person they look even better.

All 12 coins have been unveiled, along with the extra goodies so now we’re ready to start taking orders!

It’s all up there together except the patches (including the new Wendell patch) (BTW we have Team Haven patches back in stock as well.)
You can order just what you want, but if you want the whole set do NOT add them each individually- there’s a separate SKU just for the set (saves you money over ordering them all individually).

While on the site you can also add in any other patches, shirts, pins, or what have you.
We will be taking orders until the end of the month- then we’ll round up the numbers and place the order. The coins themselves will not be made again after that time!

Note- the pPUFFx was designed primarily because so many people missed out on the PUFF coins from last time. We’re not likely to do another so get ’em now or forever hold your peace!

(If the timing is just terrible and next month would be better, THAT is why we round up our numbers- you might still be able to snag one of those after we get all the orders shipped.) Any concerns, questions, or comments just let us know!

One more side note, one of the fine folks over at the forum shared the case they got from Amazon for their coins. These are not from us, but thought we’d share them here just because they’re pretty cool…

eARC for Mike Kupari’s solo novel available now

Many of you know Mike Kupari. He’s my coauthor on the Dead Six series. His first solo novel, Her Brother’s Keeper is coming out in October from Baen. However, you can get the advanced reader copy now. Baen sells eARCs several months early. They’re more expensive than the regular ebook, but that way you get the book months in advance. And sometimes you even get to see our typos!

I was one of the alpha readers. It’s a fun, solid, good old school space opera. I really recommend it.

Plus, while you are there here is something else that just came out in eARC. Onward Drake is an anthology of short stories inspired by super author Dave Drake.

I’ve got a short story in there.

Larry Correia examines what it’s like to face Hammer’s Slammers from “The Losing Side”

I’m really proud of this one. It was a lot of fun. I started reading Hammers Slammers back in high school. I’ve been a fan of Drake’s work forever. I reread the Tank Lords to prep, and I wanted to write a story about the poor bastards on the other side. Plus I did a lot of extensive, in depth research by playing World of Tanks. 🙂  But seriously, it came out really good. I’m getting one of the special leather bound, limited edition copies of this one.
