WriterDojo S3 Ep13: Picking the Brain of Dr Rob Hampson

At FenCon 2022 we had the opportunity to sit down and have a conversation with some amazing guests. This week, hosts/authors Steve Diamond and  Larry Correia talked with Special Guest, neuroscientist/author Dr Rob  Hampson about big brain stuff.

This week’s episode brought to you by Mike Kupari’s Trouble Walked In

Cassandra Blake, an employee for the Ascension Planetary Holdings Group—the largest and most powerful corporation in Nova Columbia—has gone missing. And her sister wants to know why. When questions need answering on Nova Columbia, Detective Ezekiel “Easy” Novak is the man folks turn to. He gets results—one way or another.

But what begins as a routine missing person case quickly turns into something much bigger and more sinister, with implications that could affect the entire planet. It seems Cassandra wasn’t just investigating her employer. She had uncovered a secret effort to excavate and exploit an ancient alien artifact known only as The Seraph.

Soon, Easy finds himself trying to unravel a conspiracy that may implicate not only Ascension, but the cultlike Cosmic Ontological Foundation—and the highest echelons of the Terran Confederation itself.

  1. Have not had a chance to listen to the podcast, but I remember in an earlier one, you all had said that writing changes the way you read books.

I just started reading Kilkenny. I get it now.

  2. So now that I’ve actually had time to listen to the episode, I’ve got a question: how should one determine which SMEs to ask/listen to?

I’m realizing I need to go get some resources on the psychological impacts on child soldiers and how to reintegrate them into society, and given that some ridiculous portion of modern psychology appears to be basically garbage, I’m wondering how one one sorts the wheat from the chaff?

I really need to get on Facebook and ask this to the writer’s group, don’t I?
