Where are all you gun owners now?

(Originally posted on the Facebook- Jack)
A friend of mine posted about seeing this: “Where are all you gun owners now that the federal government and police are attacking citizens in the streets?? Now that the National Guard is out oppressing citizens? I thought this was the moment you’re waiting for? So why aren’t you out there fighting them with your guns? You’re nothing but a bunch of fucking cowards!”

My response was the GIF of Nelson Muntz going HA HA.  😀

But I’ve seen this sentiment a lot too over the last few days, so please if you are so incredibly fucking dumb that you are actually wondering why America’s gun culture aren’t commuting into the democrat cities you have banned us from in order to get into gun fights with the National Guard on your behalf, allow me to elaborate.
Hypothetical Liberal “Ally” Who Lives in the Suburbs Which Aren’t On Fire – “Hey, gun owners! Here is some civil unrest! Why won’t you come and help us?”
Snort. Fuck off. 😀
“Pussies! Why not?”
Well, every single gun nut in America has spent their entire adult life being continually mocked, insulted, and belittled by the left. You’ve done nothing but paint us as the bad guys.
In Hollywood, we’re always evil, stupid, violent, malicious, redneck, racist, murderers. That’s so ingrained in the liberal religion that when “ally” Harvey Weinstein was trying to get out of being a sleazy rapist, his repentance consisted of promising to make more movies about how the NRA is bad.
In the news, everything is always our fault. If there is a mass murder, we can always count on the vultures to swoop in and blame America’s gun culture. They flog it for weeks on end, 24/7 coverage, hoping for gun control. And if the identity of the shooter doesn’t fit the narrative, it drops off the news in mere hours.
And then at the local, state, and federal level, legally speaking, the left fucks us at every opportunity.  You ban everything you can get away with. You ban things that literally make no sense. You ban shit just out of spite.
When we fight back against gun control laws, you declare we are stupid because only the police should have guns (hey, aren’t those the guys you are protesting right now?)
“Stupid racist rednecks! We live in a civilized society! Don’t you realize the police will protect us?”  until when your democrat cities are on fire, and you call 911 and the operator tells you sorry, the police can’t come to your house right now, please try not to get murdered… How is that strict gun control working out for you?
Then you did everything in your power to chase gun owners out of your sainted liberal strongholds. You passed laws. You banned everything we like. Forced all the shooting ranges to close. Forced most of the gun stores to close. And just generally let us know that our kind is not welcome there.
But now you’ve started some shit, YOU want US to go into democrat cities, with democrat mayors, and democrat police chiefs enforcing democrat policies which cause strife among democrats, in order to get into gun fights on your behalf?
How fucking gullible do you think we are? 😀  Like holy shit. Damn dude!
Because we all know that literally 30 seconds after a gun nut blows away a government employee on your behalf, then all the national media coverage of the riots will instantly cease (sorta like the Corona Virus coverage did) and it’ll be back to the news breathlessly reporting about right wing extremist gun nuts, and all you useless fucks would go back to whining for more dumb ass gun control.
You’ve already thrown the black community under the bus, cheering as their neighborhoods get burned and yours are safe. Seriously, white liberals are the shittiest “allies” in history, and your moral foundation has the consistency of Play-Doh. Your moral compass is a wind sock.
Just a little while ago, gun nuts had a massive peaceful protest in Virginia. Tens of thousands of people turned out to protest gun control proposals from a democrat with a penchant for wearing black face (he still considers himself an “ally” though!) They didn’t break any windows. They didn’t kill any puppies. They didn’t burn any horses. They didn’t flip any police cars or murder any security guards. They were downright boring. They were polite, and even cleaned up their litter.
Except then you called them domestic terrorists, and were super sad that they didn’t get massacred by the government (said government you are now mad at for killing people, because again, you fuckers ain’t exactly consistent)
Liberal “allies” are quick to call gun nuts the bad guys, but we’re not trying to disarm people. We want everybody to be able to defend themselves. It’s a common thing to see some meme on the internet, showing a black family shooting or posing with their guns, with some caption like “bet this offends the NRA”, which is liberal projection, because in reality in my social circles everybody is like, “fuck yeah, good for them”. And the harshest complaints I’ve seen have been about trigger finger discipline or lack of eye protection.
My side isn’t the one that wants the state to have a monopoly on force. We know the 2nd is for everybody, regardless of skin color or where you live. You fuckers are the ones who keep declaring we can’t fight the government with AR-15s because they have tanks and nukes, but then you bumbling fuckheads try it by throwing rocks?

So not only no, but hell no.

    1. Yeah, subtle like having your brains mashed out with a thin slice of lemon…. wrapped around a large gold brick.

  1. Larry, the lines aren’t drawn quite as clearly as you’re making them out to be. There are people on the left who support gun rights, and there are people on the right joining these protests. Let’s not make these protests even more divisive than they already are.

    1. I think Larry knows his readers recognize he’s talking about overwhelming majorities, not an absolute notion that every single person fits the stereotype.

    2. Maybe if you worked at distinguishing between protests and riots, your attempt at concern trolling would be more coherent.

      1. I think that is Pete Grant, and I’m pretty sure he is being carefully precise in his use of ‘protest’.

          1. Okay, there is a rather brutal simplicity to Pete Grant on self defense.

But there are a couple of other relevant flavors that are part of the Pete Grant mix.

Consider Pete Grant on the common humanity of those who are hurt by a tragedy in different ways. And Pete Grant on “No, the situation could not have been ‘salvaged’ by simply being harder”.

He has a very stark view of apartheid as evil, and tends to describe it as unsustainable without explaining everything an American audience needs for really grokking why it was unsustainable.

Formal apartheid looks like it may have happened in part because the English were too busy worrying about the empire and the run up to WWII to keep the Afrikaans under their heel. So just like Gandhi gained power in India, the Afrikaans took over South Africa. Tyranny can prosper where it is not strongly opposed, but the greater the opposition, the greater the manpower need for suppressing it. Afrikaans nationalism was originally set up in opposition to the English, and was only later trying to rebrand as pan-White. Apartheid was doomed once it needed to be recruiting all whites to the cause.

Pete never found a political answer to the problem of setting up a government in South Africa that would not be murdering anyone. He has found the best philosophical answer that he can live with, and he also applies that to his understanding of US problems.

Does that make him correct? I don’t know Do he and I have enough in common that we can compromise and come to some policy agreement? Maybe. Am I even right to assume that this is Pete Grant, and that I understood him correctly? I’ve got to wonder if I’ve messed that up.

      2. The peaceful (and lawful) protesters are the foot in the door. Rioters use the protesters as their entry portal into business areas & neighborhoods. You may know this strategy as “Trojan Horse.” It is as predictable as clockwork. That’s why it is important to stop the protesters before they begin protesting because the rioters will be coming right behind them once the protesters have infiltrated deep into the target zone.

        1. That would be a violation of the First Amendment, so I’m going to have to give your suggestion a hard pass.

        2. In the city near where I live, the protest the first night was 40-50 people.
Around 100 ft. away, on the other side of the street, 4-6 “activists” were smashing windows with news crews recording their activities further separating them from the crowd.

If you’re cynical enough, you can guess which group got tear-gassed.

          1. If you understand how tear gas works, you know the answer is that it would spread to both sides of a street if that scenario were real.

        3. Protesters are the beard for the rioters.
It’s not a protest if it goes on for weeks, in every major and minor city of the country. It’s hostile political action, war by other means.

          1. Ummmm, no. It’s a protest as long as the people protesting don’t hurt anybody.

Speech and assembly are not violence.

          2. You’re right. But watch the usual suspects tell us these are just peaceful demonstrations representing generations of repression and the need to loot Target.

    3. It’s not the protesting that is objectionable.

It’s the Burning, Looting and Murdering that is noose worthy.

    4. How is this post “making the protests even more divisive than they already are”?

Is Larry making the universal generalization you claim he is? His remarks are -very- specific about who he’s talking about. At not point does he say “Hey, by the way, everyone who disagrees with me politically automatically and innately behaves this way.”

      1. Lefty gun owners still vote D dispute the gun control. Regardless of their position on arms the vote for the people that cause the problems.

    5. Peter, the people trying to pull some “you hypocrites” routine about why gun nuts aren’t rushing to start the Boog are a very specific sub-set of people who probably aren’t protesting anything from anywhere but their keyboards.

    6. For those who don’t have their heads up their asses, the lines are quite clear. You aren’t left if you’re pro 2nd. And saying that you’re pro 2nds isn’t the same as being pro 2nd. There is no value in a person who is left wing but says they are pro 2nd. We’ve been around long enough to know that it’s just someone who feels better about themselves if the “accept” others. But in the end they won’t fight for the 2nd. They would be happy to watch it be stomped on. You can’t be left and be pro liberty. The two are mutually exclusive.

    7. You wrote: “…there are people on the left who support gun rights…”

I call Shenanigans!! If you can name 5 left politicians who support gun rights, screw it name 3! You can’t because they don’t. Sure there are some right protesters. But they aren’t too numerous because they have been pushed out.

    8. There are people on the left who support gun rights? So, you’ve talked to both of them? And, I’m afraid that the divisiveness train has already left the station; years ago. Seriously, though, the Left can support gun rights, any time. It’s telling that they care about guns rights NOW, when THEY might need them. I’d bet you an adult beverage of your choice, that once the current crapstorm is over, the same Leftists will go back to clamoring for gun control and/or gun confiscation, without the slightest qualm, or flicker of self-awareness.

    9. Seek help. We can see the Amish looting and Antifa thugs helping little old ladies in Trump hats across busy streets. Pray tell how could these riots be any more dividing than they all ready are? I know, BLM and Antifa will start burning puppies!

And Romney and Georgie Bush will take the knee.

    10. There’s a reason for drawing the lines more clearly. The MSM deliberately obfuscates things. Confused and frightened people either freeze and don’t act, or they react out of proportion and give the MSM even more material. Those on the left who support gun rights are a miniscule number. Those normally on the right joining those protests are either the forementioned reacters, or they actually do believe there needs to be use of force reform and change to investigations over it for the police.

  2. Been seeing tons of liberals trying to use this meme, but I’m not as eloquent as the ILOH. Have several times pointed out that “all those rednecks” agree that Floyd was murdered and like to help defend *real*/actually peacful protestors.. There are quite a few videos out of this happening. Though more often they are helping out the Rooftop Koreans and similar.

  3. HA HA, indeed. I’d actually prefer if the military was breaking up the riots with napalm and flamethrowers. It’s a pity we don’t have any flamethrowers left in inventory.

    1. Napalm. And it’s easy to make. Someone is even helpfully leaving one half of the necessary ingredients lying around.

      1. Napalm is messy and unlikely to be welcomed by the owners of the businesses getting ransacked, though I will admit it would warm the cockles of my evil old heart to see National Guardsmen advancing with fixed bayonets as skirmish lines of cops with riot shotguns fired skeet loads at the pavement ten feet in front of the front line of rioters, ricocheting them off the pavement to hit them in the knees and groins with lead pellets that (probably) lost enough kinetic energy in their collisions with concrete that they won’t break skin.

Yes, yes. We know. It was “barbaric.” And “illegal.” And “violated civil rights.” And “excessive force.” And “bad optics.” And “poor community relations.” Isn’t it funny how we have so many more riots now, since the cops stopped shooting rioters? It’s almost as if bad people were able to analyze risks and benefits.

        1. Forget the skeet loads. Rock Salt. Dissolves, non-lethal. HURTS LIKE HELL. Think salt in wound.

My Grandpa, growing up in the South (early 1900s) got a behind full of rock salt when he was younger. Never said what he was doing to get hit with rock salt. My guess hearing some of the family stories would be raiding a local farm or orchard with his friends for some goodies to eat. Said it hurt like the dickens for a week.

I know I am going to sound like a whacko but arm police and NG with shotguns. Replace the shot with rock salt. Have them march forwards, discharge as the go into the rioters. Protesters I have no problems with. Some of these punks get hit with rock salt and have to stay at home dealing with the pain of their actions for a week and I have a feeling Anitfa would die very quickly. It would no longer be the fun of destroying. It’s different when you have to suffer pain for your actions.

Too bad it could never be done today

          1. Rock salt rounds are almost useless, from the tests I’ve heard done. There’s a reason dense metals are used. They lose velocity really quickly otherwise.

          2. Rock salt loads are stupid. Legally they are still lethal force, while being next to useless. And as an added bonus if they get damp the salt will fuse into a semi solid block that will unsurprisingly still kill someone. Whoops.

          3. Rock salt is trash. Most of the stories of its use are apocryphal old school BS. Legally it would still count as exercising lethal force against someone. At really close range it’s basically shitty bird shot. (at close enough range you could load a 12 gauge with jelly beans and it would be deadly). Beyond that it is salty dust. UNLESS the shell gets wet or you’ve got high humidity, and then the rock salt fuses into one semi solid slug, which all of a sudden kills somebody you didn’t mean to. Whoops.

There is a reason that literally nobody who knows anything at all about this subject uses rock salt anymore, and it’s not because the Good Old Days were better.

        2. Gotta say, the protests turned INTO riots when the cops started bringing free samples of police violence to the police violence awareness rally. I honestly wouldn’t object to the roof koreans defending their neighborhood from that sort.
I can’t complain about police profiling when for once it’s the cops who “fit the description of the murderer we’re looking for” and are held to their own standards.

        3. Can’t use lead pellets any more. Good luck finding any. The ecofreaks made everyone switch over to steel shot so loons and waterfowl don’t get lead poisoning.

  4. Beautiful, pithy and to the point.

There are loads of people learning why you need that AR-15. Why you need a side arm. Magazines that need more than ten rounds. I’ve been watching the mobs attack cars with people in them, wanting to drag them out. Scary stuff. And the Antifa elsewhere looking at this and activating, and trying to get their violent insurrection on.

Scary, scary shit, especially in countries like Australia, where you don’t have the right to defend yourself with a gun.

Treasure the Second Amendment, as it truly is the defence you have to protect everything else that is important.

    1. I, personally, am especially concerned to see people arguing now to reduce or eliminate police departments altogether in many cities while at the same time continuing to push for gun bans.

Someone who wants you to be unprotected, unarmed, and defenseless probably has a plan for you.

  5. People are pretty crazy. We have had some pretty large rally’s in my state, (nothing compared to LA) but they been extremely peaceful. Why? All the people with guns.

I support equality, I think what happened was dreadful. Still, you cannot judge all police by the actions of a few. You cannot attribute what a few rioters did to everyone marching either. But, you can look at the leadership in those area’s and ask…”weren’t you elected to do something about all of this? It The LA Riots were 30 years ago. Where is all the change you’ve been promising? I have noticed that the politicians are getting wealthy, but that’s about it.

    1. Yepp. That’s what Trump has been saying before he was elected. I didn’t see it though I was influenced by the media but thought they were over reacting. Boy was I wrong and all it took was me to watch one video after hearing some bs they said about him. Then realized why. He’s been calling out these corrupt POS politicians from the start and their pissed. When you think of that and think of how much money nancy, the Clinton’s, the Obama’s have made off of us and continue to syphen money off of donations to their “foundations” to pay for all the stuff they’ve just put the American people through. These “conspiracy theories” stop looking like theories and start looking like straight up facts. We have to push back at them like this when they try and shame us we pushback with honesty, facts, and strength. We can’t bow down to this anymore.

  6. You mention about one gun nut killing a liberal and the news going after that and ignoring the death and destruction on a large scale. Funny you should mention that. I was listening to NHPR this afternoon and they ran a story about 3 guys who were going to a protest with some molatov cocktails and some sort of gas. They were described as extreme right wing. Of course, they were stopped and arrested. And that was what ran for the 15 min program; violent, hateful, racist extreme right wingers going nuts.

    …..while cities burn…..

  7. Very nice. Thank you sir. May I please have another?

The normal Americans are doing what they always do.

Working if they can. Praying for the useful idiots who keep voting in Democrat/Socialist/Communist traitors and expecting something different to happen. Raising there family to honor and respect the Constitution and the Rule of Law. Supporting there neighbors in this time of trial. ANTIFA and BLM and the like know what will happen if they try this crap were we live. As the Sheriff of Polk County, FL said; if they break into your house blow them back out of your house.

  8. Spot on.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but personally, I am on the side of the National Guard/Police (for the most part) in this situation.

The overwhelming majority of the “peaceful protesters” have well earned the beatdown they are getting, and if I could assist, I would.

The people calling for the armed citizens who are itching to fight against oppression had better be careful. They might be surprised which side of the fight we see as the oppressors.

    1. You got that right. Who the heck to they think paid for those cop cars they’re trying to overturn and torch? Yeah, me and the other tax payers.

  9. YES!!! Well said!

Now ask the African-American community why they keep supporting Democrats when Democrats’ singular focus is to disarm everyone and subject everyone to the untrammeled and unlimited power of the State.

    1. Political Stockholm Syndrome, Coupled with the fact that when they DO make the transition away from the Democrats, they are IMMEDIATELY Attacked and diminished, Using terms that under ANY OTHER Circumstance would be grounds for losing teeth.

  10. Personally? I’m at the point where I say let all the metropolitan cities burn down to the ground, cover it in salt so that nothing may ever grow there again and move on with civilization.

    1. I have a running gag with a buddy at work about terraforming Mars and who we would allow to settle there. We’ve been going back and forth about it for years… and honestly, with years of reflection under my belt, I think the simplest solution to civil grievances would be to mandate that the smallest amount of land you can use for a residence should be one acre, and limit condos and apartments to 1/20th of the residences of any given area.

Spread people out enough and they stop finding reasons to hate each other… or at least stop finding reasons to riot.

    2. I’m from Wichita, KS. I didn’t see any neighbors burning down or riots. Take notice of what cities are having problems, and their local politics.

      1. I am from a small town near there, and while the protest was pretty peaceful, that didn’t stop a bunch of thugs and looters from using the protest as cover for some looting and vandalizing The QuickTrips and Exploration Place!
I strongly condemn what those a-hole Minneapolis cops did to Floyd, I also have condemned the idiot cops in Wichita who murdered Andrew Finch.
Which doesn’t mean I think all cops are bad! Most of them I support.
As a gun owner, my intention is to avoid trouble as much as possible!
My guns are for self defense against someone who comes after me or mine!
So I avoid protest I think will devolve to violence , and if I am at one that does, I would leave! I am definitely not planning to hang around Hutchinson this weekend!
I strongly agree with The ILOH!

  11. “Where are all you gun owners now?”

In the suburbs, small towns and rural areas, loading ammo and magazines, cleaning weapons, and waiting for your buddies to make good their threat to bring their “insurrection” to our home turf.

  12. “Where are all you gun owners now that the federal government and police are attacking citizens in the streets?? Now that the National Guard is out oppressing citizens?”

Hell, most of the National Guard AND the police are the gun owners you are demanding to protect the rioters and looters!

I like the incredible doublethink. ‘Attacking citizens in the streets’ is code for defending yourself against rioters and ‘oppressing citizens’ is trying to prevent rioters and looters from burning down buildings and stealing everything out of them. I never knew the Constitution considered arson a form of free speech and looting a legal method of transferring public property’.

And the Obama gravely hinted ‘These riots will stop once Orange Man Bad is removed’. As though he is trustworthy.

  13. I’m more amused by how the usual spiel of “the government should focus on domestic terrorists” when referencing the fabled Nazi/alt-right/white supremacists or such, suddenly became “oh, noes, the government is attacking American citizens” when the antifarts are now considered for being declared a terrorist group. “Buh- buh- they’re anti-fascist! It says so in the name!” Sure, and it’s about as true as saying that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is democratic, a republic, or at all cares about its people. Or, for that matter, that it’s run by Koreans, rather than being a buffer for the CCP’s foreign interests.

At any rate, while I feel for them – the business owners losing their livelihoods to looters, the families forced to barricade themselves inside their homes, the people literally getting murdered by angry mobs for the crime of being in their way – I notice most of it is happening in overwhelmingly liberal cities. That is, places where just about every rational form of self-defense is frowned upon, if not outright banned. So, nasty as it sounds to say it, you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.

I hope you guys out there stay safe (the Balkans are virtually immune to social justice riots, if only for the same reason a quad amputee is immune to ingrown toenails), and that we’ll endure the rest of the memetic madness that 2020 is turning out to be. (Really, remember when the Kung Flu broke out, some jokers complained they wanted it to be a zombie plague? I reckon we can tick that off the list.)

    1. My own personal favorite in that line Indy, is the “Antifa isn’t a Group, It’s a Mindset”..only to get a blank Stare when i point out that Flags, Emblems, UNIFORMS, Chapters, and Planning Meetings…Makes you a Group. And of course the Media in their Infinite Objetivity refers to these guys when they are caught participating in their Fuckery “White Supremecists”…even as they are wearing Stuff like the ALF (Animal Liberation Front) Emblem.

  14. I ran into one of these folks recently on Quora. What fascinates me is the predictability. Once the vacuous twatwaffles are called out, then they suddenly didn’t “really” mean they expected us to take up arms. They didn’t really mean we needed to shed our own blood on their behalf. No, they meant something different, something nobler. They only seemed to mean what they so clearly suggested. Then, from the many-tiered summit upon which they imagine they stand, they can speak with great moral authority about out tribalism and lack of compassion. They can all kiss my ass.

  15. It’s a common thing to see some meme on the internet, showing a black family shooting or posing with their guns, with some caption like “bet this offends the NRA”, which is liberal projection, because in reality in my social circles everybody is like, “fuck yeah, good for them”.

Somewhat off topic, but I recall when they were first discussing putting Harriet Tubman on the money. The general reaction in conservative circles was, “You want to honor a gun-toting Republican? Oh, yeah!” They even provided a helpful design that captured her badassitude.

  16. I grew up and live about three blocks from Uncle Hugo’s and have been going there my entire life. These scumbags burned one of the last bookstores, and arguably, one of the best in existence.

Now liberals think I should take my gun and fight the police? The same gun that I and the local Native Americans used to defend our homes, local businesses, and neighborhoods from the Democrat’s military wing? The implication that they think I would side with the very people who burned my favorite restaurants, my favorite bookstore, and the businesses I used to be a customer of until THEY burned them is ridiculous to the extreme.

I am not happy with what the police officer did, and I am certainly not ecstatic with the police and national guard’s response where they indiscriminately pepperballed local residents who were defending their homes and businesses while a large group of looters and arsonists followed them, and a genuine riot was occurring less than a block away, which would have been a great target for those pepperballs, however to think we would side with those who would use a bad situation to justify arson and looting by people who aren’t even from here is plainly ignorant to the extreme.

If anything, at this point, the only side we who live here are on is OUR side.

  17. It’s really easy. We can stand with the people trying to stop people from being victimized or attack the people preventing others from becoming victims. I really don’t see that there is any choice in this matter. The decades long attacks on my rights and characters don’t matter in this at all.

There is no justice in what the looters and rioters are doing.

  18. I like what happened in our town. We had the protesters gathering and marching through town (they mostly looked like locals). And what felt like the rest of the town armed to the teeth (no joke) protecting business ~and the protesters~ from anyone trying to use this as an opportunity to riot.

It was reported that on Monday night (the first night this happened), at least one vehicle filled with people dressed head to toe in black saw the armed locals, cussed them out, and left.

  19. I wanted to post a comment with a link but it’s not letting me, and I see other comments with links. What am I doing wrong? And no, the link isn’t the only thing in the comment, I wrote a small paragraph before it.

  20. This reminds me of the “if x happens, I’m coming to your house”.
With x being zombies, invasion, Cthulhu awakening, etc.

    How about no?

  21. Hi Larry,

My reaction to this piece is mixed.
Everything you say is 100% correct, but beside the point.
The guy you are responding to is calling out “gun owners” as hypocrites and cowards for not going down to the riots to defend the rioters against the police and National Guard.
The right answer is that most suburban/rural “gun owners” think the cops and National Guard are the good guys and Antifa/BLM are left-wing terrorists. If we were going to tool up and come on down, we’d be helping cops and National Guard shoot the terrorists.
But, since the cops and National Guard are mostly just standing around anyway (obedient to their political masters – which is “correct” in our system but no doubt frustrating for them), what we are supposed to tool up and go down there and help them stand around? Seems to me they got that covered, and I got my own job (probably none of the rioters do, except the cadre of professional “community organizers”).
That, IMO, is what you should have said. YMMV

  22. Correct. The reason is not because most gun owners are so offended at treatment from the left they refuse to help. The reason is that we think that rioters are not a solution, but a problem, and see the police as the good guys.
