BOOK BOMB! Featuring two books this time, A Star Wheeled Sky, and In Plain Sight

It is Book Bomb Day!

A Book Bomb is when I pick out a deserving author who could use a publicity boost, and get as many people as possible to buy their book in the same day on Amazon. The more people who buy, the higher it goes in the sales rankings. Once it gets on some bestseller lists, that gets it in front of even more new eyes. Success breeds success, the author gets new readers, and most importantly, the author GETS PAID.

This month I’m doing something a little different as an experiment. See, I get so many requests for BBs, from so many talented authors, that there is just no way I can do them all. I have to spread these out or they lose their impact, but I get about twenty requests for each one that I can actually do.

Then it turned out that this month, two good friends of mine, who are both extremely talented authors, both had wildly different style books coming out the same day. Both are awesome. Both would probably appeal to my fans.  How could I pick just one?

So this month, we’re going to try a CLUSTER BOOK BOMB!

First up is the epic sci-fi novel A Star-Wheeled Sky, by Brad Torgersen. (not to be mistaken for the super evil Brad TorgersOn, because that guy hangs out with Straw Larry, and he’s the worst)

Brad is one of the most talented sci-fi writers around. The problem for Brad right now is that he’s  a Warrant Officer in the Army National Guard, and he’s currently deployed overseas, which sure throws a wrench into going on book tour (not a real big sci-fi audience where Brad’s stationed right now).

And next is In Plain Sight, by Dan Willis. I picked this one is for my Grimnoir fans who are waiting for me to finish the next trilogy, because it’s a magical detective story set in the 1930s New York.

As an added bonus, it looks like the Kindle Unlimited version is FREE, and it’s only 99 cents if you want to purchase it! Our last BB featured a 99 cent eBook, and you guys bought so many of those, you shoved it clear to the top of all of Amazon.

Right now Brad is at:
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #23,703 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #10,711 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

And Dan is at:
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #15,939 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #3,048 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

And for Dan,  we’ve already got a fancy NUMBER ONE NEW RELEASE tag for him. 😀

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #44,524 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

So we are off to a great start. Please tell your friends.

EDIT: Lunch hour update, still moving right along. Brad is doing okay in paperback, but doing much much better in ebook.
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #14,164 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #3,108 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

And then Dan is CRUSHING it in eBook. Which just goes to show the power of a .99 cent eBook to attract new readers.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #631 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #37,857 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

EDIT: still climbing! Here’s Brad,

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #12,533 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #2,665 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

And for Dan, top 500 on ALL of Amazon.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #491 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

Update: For the night time crowd, Brad first:

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #1,985 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

And then Dan, actually hit #1 in Steampunk. That’s awesome.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #394 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

  1. I’ve been waiting for your next Grimnoir for quite some time so I guess this’ll have to do.

And I’m still waiting on Vaultbooks to get those special edition versions out the door :-/

    1. I posted an update on those a little while back. I’ve not heard anything new since that but I can go bug them again.

      1. They posted an “update” several months back, so at least I know it is still moving forward. I guess I’m just impatient because I’m used to some other small presses delivering everything, on time.

I did get the Dan Willis book and hope to get to it before the new years 🙂

        Thank you for replying.

  2. Both books are showing only paperback versions, no ebook. (2018-12-04 8PM PST)

(And at absurd prices too for paperbacks – or am I out of touch?)

    1. Hmm – post didn’t post (or at least it appears to not have)

Go to Kindle Store from the physical Books links and search for the books there.

Amazon can be stupid sometimes about getting all the links onto the main page for the book, on the first few days of release.

  3. Not sure why Amazon doesn’t have the paper page and the Kindle e-book page linked up better, but sometimes they will backtrack and clean up the situation once the book’s been on the market awhile.

  4. I think we can all agree that Straw Larry is the worst. Heh. That said though, do either Brad Torgerson or by Brad Torgersen plan on releasing A Star-Wheeled Sky in ebook format ? I am kind of maxed out on physical book storage at the moment, but I’d love to read it…

  5. I read the eARC of “A Star-Wheeled Sky” from Baen and now have the full version in the latest monthly bundle. It was an absolutely riveting story. It’s clearly the start of at least a trilogy, and I am now waiting patiently for the next volume. Engaging characters, conflicts both high and low, a Great Puzzle, and a fascinating “where do we go from here?” It was totally worth the time spent.

As for “In Plain Sight,” my next stop is Amazon.
    As for the

    1. Geoff, thanks so much for the ringing endorsement of A Star-Wheeled Sky! I put a lot of work into that book, and fretted over a lot of things — almost the point of not getting it turned in on time, for the launch deadline! Thanks for letting me know the book did well by you. Music to this author’s ears. 🙂

  6. Greetings from Denmark! 🙂 I really do like your book bombs! Finding new authors worth reading is becoming a daunting task…. Your book bombs so far has been worth it! THANKS!

btw looking forward to see the result of this, my audible credit went for the first and the second has been sent to my kindle!

    Please take my money Amazon!

  7. I just purchased the Kindle version of A Star-Wheeled Sky, based on LC’s recommendation and the categories in which Amazon placed it. Besides, we National Guardsmen* should stick together…. 😉

*I retired after 8 years in the Regular Army and 17 years in the LAARNG.

    1. Happy reading, Auric! I hope A Star-Wheeled Sky earns your time and money! I am presently overseas (again!) and am sending my best wishes to you as the Christmas season approaches. Thank you for your service! 🙂

      1. To be fair, sir, I was a HUMINT collector my entire career (and on jump status for nearly three years), so I should be thanking the taxpayers for giving me such an awesome job. 😀

  8. I’d already bought Brad Torgersen’s book from the Baen website and so far I love it. Military space opera featuring complex worldbuilding and incredible alien technologies? That’s a whole bunch of my favorite things right there!

  9. I wanted to thank all of you who picked up a copy of In Plain Sight. I’m officially a bestselling author thanks to you. I sure hope you like the book and the sequel is already finished so keep your eyes open in March. Again, thanks to all you guys. You are awesome!

    1. Dan,
I read your book in two days, including during my business conference. Excellent world building, intriguing magical system. I can’t wait for the sequel.
      You do magical mystery right.

    2. Dan,
I can’t wait until March. Loved your book. Excellent worldbuilding and a well thought out magic system.
      Rollicking good time.

  10. Just finished both the first and zeroth Arcane Casebook novels. Fun reads. Not as deep as the Grimnoir books, but that’s not a big knock, because the Grimnoir universe is a vast ocean. I’ll be looking out for more from this author.

  11. Fortunately, Straw Larry is covered by the Stranger Insurance policy bought by Physics-Understanding, Cigar smoking, Correiatech owning Larry. Straw Larry is going to be around a long time, suckers.
