Book Bomb! Awful Intent by John D. Brown

I got a late start on this one! It was supposed to have been posted last night. Shoot.

This month’s Book Bomb is Awful Intent by Super Author John D. Brown.

For those of you new to Book Bombs, the goal is to get as many people as possible to buy an author’s book on the same day. The more books sell, the higher it gets in the rankings, the more new people see it. If it is something that you would be interested in reading anyway, getting it the same time as a bunch of other folks pushes it up in the ratings, which means more publicity, exposure, and new fans. Success breeds success, and a good Book Bomb can get an author hundreds of new fans. We steer people toward Amazon for this because it is big, has lots of eyes on it, and has an constantly updating sales rank, but if you prefer to purchase somewhere else go for it, because the most important thing is that the author GETS PAID.

So please spread the word and tell your friends.

Awful Intent
(Frank Shaw Book 2)
Kindle Edition
by John D. Brown
AwfulIntent

John is one of the best authors I know. The dude has mad skills. And he was one of the guys who really helped me out when I was getting started. We toured together (on our own dime!) The man is a brilliant story teller.

Now this one is a little weird because Awful Intent is the sequel to Bad Penny. You don’t need to have read Bad Penny first, but John has tweaked the prices for this BB so that Bad Penny is only 99 cents! If you’ve not picked up Bad Penny, you should, because it is awesome. (and I am a character in it) 🙂

Because I screwed up and didn’t get this up last night (A thing with my kids ran long, and I got home and forgot, my bad) and Amazon has added a longer delay, we probably won’t see an uptick in numbers until this late this afternoon.

As of right now we are at:

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #114,317 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #9,920 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

Edit: Jack Wylder here- Larry had to unexpectedly drive out to the west desert of Utah and back so he asked me to update the numbers and offer his apologies…

Current ranking:
Amazon Best Sellers Rank:
#34,184 in Books
#244 in Books > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Thrillers & Suspense > Crime > Vigilante Justice
#274 in Books > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Thrillers & Suspense > Spies & Politics > Terrorism

#869 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#4 in Books > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Thrillers & Suspense > Crime > Organized Crime
#7 in Books > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Thrillers & Suspense > Crime > Vigilante Justice
#14 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Suspense > Political

So even with a late start, we still brought him up 80,133 in overall book rankings. Once again, the Monster Hunter Nation comes through. Full update from the ILoH to follow…

  1. 3.99 for an eBook is a great value! Factor in that Bad Penny is only .99 today and you can get right into the thick of the series for under 5 bucks!

  2. Bought John Kupari’s “Her brothers keeper” last night and this gentlemans 2 books today.

I collect a few authors, mainly military sci fi. David Drake was my guiding light. If an author had a blurb from him I would buy the book. If I liked it I would buy their back catalogue and add them to my list. David Drake led me to David Weber and Steve White, who led me to John Ringo, who led me to Tom Kratman, Travis Taylor, and Baen as a publishing house, which led me to MHI.

As an aside, I think you should take either Owen or Earl to John Ringo’s Special Circumstances with Barbara or the Paladin of Shadows series and play with the Keldara. Earl might be best for the Keldara just so Owen doesn’t get in trouble at home.

    1. That would be awesome! Plus John sort of opened the door on that since the Special Circumstances universe is actually the same as the Keldara. I could see that working since MHI doesn’t deal with things without bodies. Maybe a Barbara and Milo team to deal with Susan? The nuclear option without using nukes 🙂

Read both of John’s books and loved them. Thanks for the recommendations! Been going through all the free Kindle books for a couple months and running low on stuff to read.

  3. Wow!

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #833 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

    #6 in Books > Mystery, Thriller & Suspense > Thrillers & Suspense > Crime > Vigilante Justice

  4. Not on topic, but I thought people might be interested to know that the Kuntzman posted an article stating that the NRA is responsible for the shooting of a black man (Philando Castile) legally carrying a concealed weapon by a police officer yesterday, due to their “Glorification” of self-defense. He said he doesn’t blame the victim or the police officer who shot him, then failed to perform any life-saving measures.

  5. I bought both Bad Penny and Awful Intent in the Bomb, and just finished Bad Penny last night. truly outstanding thriller, the tension is massive. Author can really wite compelling chaacters. OT, but when can we expect next episode in Son of the Black Sword? I look forward hugely to it.

    1. You can suggest, but the odds are not good. 🙂

Basically, it is usually someone I know somehow, or their situation comes to my attention. I get a ton of requests for each one I can actually do.

      1. Well, the worst thing that can happen is: nothing.

The book is Shard’s Thugs, by Dexter Herron who’s a cop in CT when he’s not writing. This is his 2nd book. It’s a goblin’s eye view of war. Rude, crude and funny.

  6. So, I figured I’d FINALLY get in on a book bomb.. I was half-hour late to my doctor appointment. How do I tell him I was laying in bed reading a book I had trouble putting down?? And I rarely read non-fiction. This one grabbed my interest, because of the dead saint mary tattoos..as I put them.. having seen them here & there around town over the years. Not as many as the TB ones though. Am enjoying the snot out of the book..but I do have a question.. Azores is Portuguese? Interesting…hubby may not be all just English & Swedish, as one of his ancestors are from the Azores. Back in the 1600s. Thanks to sister-in-law for digging way the heck back, and the lovely people at Sturgis Family Library in Barnstable MA. Cape Cod history? That’s the place to go.
