BOOK BOMB! Peter Grant’s Walls, Wire, Bars & Souls

Today we are going to be Book Bombing my longtime friend Peter Grant’s non-fiction work, Walls, Wire, Bars, and Souls.

For those of you who are new to Book Bombs, that’s where  we pick an author who we think needs a signal boost, and then try to get as many people as possible to go and purchase their book on the same day. This causes the book to spike in the ratings. The higher we get the book on the various Amazon top 20 lists, the more people see it, the more people buy it, and success breeds success. The goal at the end of a Book Bomb is to have sold a bunch of books for an author, which means he GETS PAID (remember writers, that should be in your mission statement) but more importantly, it helps them get a bunch of new fans.

So go here and buy it. Let’s spike this sucker.

Many of you may know Peter as Preacherman from various gun forums. Peter is now a science fiction author and his first two books are out. (You should check those out while you’re there too. I’ve read the first one and it is really good) He’s also the man behind Bayou Renaissance Man, which you will probably recognize as one of the blurbs on the original MHI. That’s because Peter was one of my original self-published proof readers (and yes, he is the basis of the character Priest)

This Book Bomb is a little different than most because WWBS is non-fiction, and I’m primarily a sci-fi/fantasy guy. But this one is special. Peter used to be a prison chaplain and his friends have been harassing him for years to collect all of his stories in one place. I’m one of them. This is real life stuff, and they’ll make you laugh, cry, and probably buy more guns.

Yes, we did a Book Bomb last week for Brad Torgersen, but this one kind of snuck up on me because Peter is already connected with a mess of bloggers and today was the day picked to plug it. So what a great opportunity to jump onboard.

Peter is a South African soldier turned priest turned humanitarian worker during Apartheid turned Louisiana prison chaplain turned science fiction writer, married to an Alaskan bush pilot. He is… The Most Interesting Man in the World. Stay thirsty my friends.

Okay, and from the last post when I mentioned Peter’s wonderful wife and the lovely Mrs. Correia tag teaming and utterly annihilating a liberal during a gun control debate at a con… No. There is no video. However, Speaker to Lab Animals, (super genius scientist and famous Baen Bar Fly) witnessed this debate and told me that I’m not the Correia people should be afraid of. It was magnificent. They even managed to sneak in “you’re a southern white man, where to you get off telling women what we can do with our bodies!” Meaning how to protect them, with guns, but the cognitive dissonance was delightful to watch.

Normally I try to update Book Bombs through the day as we make the stats rise, and to post absolutely true fun facts about the author, but I’ve got a super important writing project that just cropped up unexpectedly which I need to focus on, so I probably won’t be online much today. I can’t say much because it is NOT one of my properties. I’m helping another author on their project. I’ll just drop the hint that it involves television, as in maybe being on TV, not being about TVs, but to keep the freak out to a minimum, this is NOT one of my existing properties. Thank you.

So let’s buy some books about prison!

My new novel Swords of Exodus is out now!
Next Book Bomb, Monday the 23rd, something completely different

    Y’all are awesome!

Alas no, there was no video. However, there was a moment when I slid into a chair next to the lovely Mrs. Correia while the arguing had switched to among the gents, and said quietly, “Which lines of argument have you used so far?” She started to explain, growing a little heated – until I held out a hand, and said, “Peace, I’m on your side. Preaching, choir. I’m just trying to figure out how best to compliment your line of attack.”

She has a lovely smile, and a gleam to her eye that should have made our target afraid. He wasn’t wise enough to not take his attention off us… and not expecting when we came back into the fray.

  4. Just picked Maxwell Saga#2 to keep WWBS company on my Nook. #1 was pretty good, though I really wonder why the lowlife was toting around checkov’s gun.

Doubtlessly #2 will answer a lot and ask even more.

    1. Well, I read Ride The Rising Tide last night. I wish Amazon advertised your books as:
Take The Star Road (The Maxwell Saga #1)
Ride The Rising Tide (The Maxwell Saga #2)

When I like a book, it drives me up the wall if I can’t easily find which sequel is which. Also, giving me book numbers lets me know quickly which other books I need buy, and in what order.

It might seem easy, but Terry Pratchett’s discworld series started out with just one book, and I think it’s around 30 now.

Anyhow, I enjoyed #2 and read it straight through. l am looking forward to Maxwell #3.

I bought the hardcopy of WWBS, so it’ll take a couple of days before I see it.

      1. Correction for them a’ searchin:

My copy of Walls, Wire, Bars and Souls just arrived.

        $10.81 with amazon prime

  5. I went and fell asleep instead of updating… but you’ve gotten it up there!

Fun true fact about the author: he once was on a flight through the Drakensberg mountains… in a tiger moth. The headwind was stronger than the airplane, and he ended up flying backwards!

Fun fact number two: he gets this peculiar expression on his face when he recalls another flight on a cargo plane, when the local tribesmen decided it was time for lunch, and proceeded to build a fire in the back to cook their meal. Ah, Africa.

    1. I’d love to see that re-enacted in MH. Somebody starts to cook lunch in the back of Skippy’s beloved Hind.

Somebody and lunch get a skydiving lesson.

  6. YES! I love these book-bombs. Brad Torgerson’s book was fantastic. I’m always looking for authors worth supporting. Thanks Correia!!
