Occupy Womb Street came to an end on Edgar Allen Poe’s birtday (I share a birtday with HP Lovecraft, so I’m sensing a trend here). Introducing Correia 2.4.  10 Pounds and 9 ounces, 21 inches long, and Mrs. Correia did that all without an epidural because she is a Viking badass warrior woman.

There is a new moose on Yard Moose Mountain.

He’s a surprisingly good natured little guy, and probably the strongest baby I’ve ever seen. And that is coming from somebody who already had three ten pounders. He lifts his head, looks around, can grab stuff and hold on like a 3 month old, and even did a push up to get to a more comfy position. This is the sort of madness that happens when we have babies go to their due dates. All of our other gigantic children were early.

Mrs. Correia is fine. We’re all slightly brain damaged from lack of sleep. There is a 7 year gap between this one and Correia 2.3.

  1. Congratulations, Correias!
My last child was also the largest birth weight and most good-natured (as a baby). Enjoy your little guy.

  2. Fantastic! Congratulations!

It reminds me of when my son was born (a mere 10 lbs. even). My wife had the epidural, but it wore off. She didn’t tell anybody because she didn’t want to wait while another kicked in, so when it came time to push, she blasted him out of there in 45 min. flat.

  3. Larry (and Mrs.),

He’s adorable! 😀 oh, and for the record? I’ve had 3 babies with no epidural. Does that make me a “bad-ass Viking Goddess”?

  4. I can’t decide whether he’s an Owen or a Jake. He’s amazing either way. 🙂

May the rest of his life live up to his pure awesomeness.

    1. I was thinking more on the lines of “give me the boobie and nobody gets hurt”.

Congrats to the parents and welcome to the world, Correia 2.4!

  5. Man, that kid already looks like a bad ass! No baby rattles for him, get him one of those tire checker batons the truckers use. Make a good tetsubo for him.
Seriously, you and the Mrs. do good work, God bless and congratulations.

  6. Congrats. My first son was born yesterday, and yours is fully twice his size (5 lbs even). Much as I wish he were a little bigger, I’m kind of glad for my wife that he wasn’t quite THAT big.

    1. Congrats, Netpackrat! Everything just changed for you forever.. Enjoy every second of it- it goes faster than you’ll believe! 😀

  7. Congrats to you both, but your wife should seriously consider epidurals if you continue to spawn small giants that are ostensibly babies.
If she rips your ears off. count yourself lucky. She must have an unreal pain tolerance.
Baby rattle? He deserves one of those Australian didgeridoos’.
And Larry, she needs a ring for this one. 11 carats total of semi-precious stones of some kind. Semi-precious, because I’d not bankrupt you. I suggest, since you live in Utah, you go find some. I’ve found huge topaz here in Colorado. You’ve got stuff there, stones you find, with matching elk teeth earrings from elk you’ve shot. will mean a lot to her.

    1. Yet another OWS protester tossed out in the cold -wouldn’t you be pissed?

Congrats to Mrs C & Mr C & all the little C’s! All the Fun You’ll Have! 🙂

  8. Dear Lord! What are your monthly food bills? Will go out and buy Spellbound tomorrow to help feed the lad.
And Mrs. Viking deserves a major foot rub tonight.

  9. The look on his face in #2 seems to be saying, “Why am I putting up with this? I’m not seein’ any milk here…”

You’ll probably come down one morning and Earl Harbinger will be laying there very patiently while the kid tries to pull out handfuls of his fur…

  10. You might want to check and see where Jake the Heavy was about ten months ago – I realize you are a big dude yourself and all, but holy schnitiz, man…! If she is nursing, may I suggest she just install a tap on each side to make it easier to fill the pint glass? I had a little piglet too, and somedays I felt like a keg of Guiness on St. Patrick’s Day…

    Best wishes from Texas.

    War Eagle!

    1. Naw, look closely at pic#2. There is no more doubt about this kid’s paternity than there is about Angelina Joile’s puffed lip little girl.

If you’ve ever seen Larry in person, you’ll understand. That kid is the spittin’ image of his daddy. If there was any hanky-panky it would have to be the Good Larry without the goatee from the Spock-without-a-beard-universe.

Congratulations Larry! Welcome to Earth 2.4! You’re gonna love it here.

  11. For your wife to provide you with such awesome children, what monster did you slay as a wedding present?

    Congratulations Correia family!

  12. Congratulations to you and the Badass Viking Warrior Woman on the new mini-Correia 2.4.

In that second photo he looks like he’s saying “I’ve got a loaded diaper and I’m not afraid to use it”.

  13. congratulations on such a beautiful baby. i seriously love your books and cant wait till the next one,,,, such a long time away. and im excited and hoping for a continuence to “alpha” to see what happens with heather and earl… again congrats

  14. Congrats! We had our second child December 7th, so we’re knee deep in lack of sleep, but we’re dug in and just gritting our teeth and hoping for the best. Hope it goes as well for you as it has for us, lack of sleep notwithstanding

  15. Congratulations on your new son, Larry! Do you have an appropriately sized tetsubo for him? (Still suffering weapon envy here),

  16. Good lookin’, big baby. All of us monsters like him have that great hairline too!

Seriously Larry, congrats on 2.4! Glad that he and your lovely wife are doing so well.

  17. Congratulations on this gorgeous guy! We did our three naturally as well. But our largest was only 9# 14 oz. I remember the midwife telling us that our last was over 10# a week before he was born, I was happy that he came early and was only 9 11. Great job to all involved. I hope big brothers are happy too.

  18. Congrats! 10#9oz with no epidural… Wow, don’t ever make that woman mad because there is nothing short of parking an M1 Abrams on top of her which may stop her.
