MHI audio books are coming!

I just found out that www.audible.com will be releasing audio book versions of Monster Hunter International, Monster Hunter Vendetta, and Monster Hunter Alpha.

The books will be read by Oliver Wyman, who has performed something like 100 audio books. I spoke with him yesterday, and he loves sci-fi, fantasy, all things comic-book and is really into the idea of the MH universe. If you want to check out his work on Audible, try Frederick Pohl’s Gateway, James Frey’s A Million Little Pieces, or The Science of Supervillians.

This is pretty exciting stuff. I’ll let you guys know as soon as I find out when the release dates are going to be.

EDIT: And if you do want to try Audible, they do offer a free trail. Do me a favor and use the promo code from the Writing Excuses Podcast. http://www.writingexcuses.com/  They are friends of mine, and Audible is their sponsor. http://AudiblePodcast.com/excuse

  1. I wish the standard audio book didn’t drive me nuts. Listening to one person talking that long starts to bore me, and usually hearing that person try to do opposite gender voices just grates on me.

The only one I’ve ever enjoyed was World War Z.

Granted, I may still pick up the first one on audiobook to get the friends that only do audiobooks hooked on the series.

The more you sell, the more of your stuff that will be published. I want you getting published heavily Mister. [insert stern face here]

  2. Cool. A BBC style “radio play” version would rock, but I might have to give this a whirl. I’ve not been big into audio books but we are taking a road trip this Christmas.

Oh and +100 on Writing Excuses, they are epic!

  3. Awesome – Wyman did David Weber’s Safehold series, starting with ‘Off Armaggedon Reef’ and I don’t recall the reader annoying me at all, which is really all you can ask for. That’s unlike the reader for Weber’s Honor Harrington stuff, who annoys me to no end.

  4. Glad to see another sign of your success.

Not for me though. Audio books tend to put me to sleep. Ungood for “reading comprehension”, Double Plus Ungood when driving.

  5. Larry,

Excellent news. I have been searching on the Audible site for the past several months for:
    Larry Correia
    Monster Hunter International
    Monster Hunter Vendetta
    etc.
every time I logged in. I’m glad to hear that they are adding your books and I am looking forward to getting them in that format too.

  6. While I love that MHI is coming to audiobook, I hate that it’s via audible.com. The bitrate the encode books at is so low the quality is horrible I can hardly stand it. They need to distribute cd quality downloads before I would ever buy them. I’ll get cd and rip them before id put a nickel in audible.com’s coffers. I think Graphic Audio would have been a better fit for MHI. Full cast, and high quality.

  7. Larry,
I don’t know if this the right place for this, but I’ve just found your website. I love your books, I LOVE all monster hunting books.
And on that note I just learned that John Steakley died the other day. He wrote Vampire$ which was a GREAT monster hunting story.
As far as I can tell, all the earliest Heros were monster hunters.
Keep writing and I’ll keep buying those ARCs.
    Thanks
