So do we order the Kindle version now or next week? To make this one get on the best seller lists?

For Audible we will need to hold on till the 27th, according to their page on this.

Completed the book (Baen ebook) last weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed it. All of the characters are flawed, including the protagonists. Read the entire thing in two days. Not able to put it down. Great action book with several subplots including philosophical/religious observations. You have gotten much better at writing sword & sorcery fantasy than your earlier book Into the Storm.

May buy a 2nd copy in hardback on acid fee paper.

No Audible for 5 days 9 hours. 🙁

Already bought it on Kindle, along with Kupari’s, and – I hate to admit it, it being a Tor book – Weber’s latest Safehold. Amazon’s one-click ordering is an even quicker road to perdition than annoying Ashok.

Enjoyed the heck out of “Son of The Black Sword.” The final line had me laughing out loud. (And for some reason I just can’t get that “Ashok the Intern” line out of my head, that somebody else came up with in a prior comment thread. 😛 )

Ah man…You’re going to fly right over us in central California, but we don’t get to see you. Don’t you like us anymore?

Blown away by how good this was. Unputdownable. This book ruled my life for a day and would undoubtedly have caused me problems at work if I hadn’t stayed up late to finish it. Really looking forward to more.

I’m really hoping to make it to Seattle for your book tour. I greatly enjoyed MHI and the Grimnoir books. Still haven’t gotten around to the Dead Six books but I have the first one on audible! I also pre-ordered this for audible but I really like going to book tours when I can. Hope to be there so I can pick up a signed book in person!

One of these days you’re going to have to come visit Jack in Texas and one of these days I’m going to ambush you with some hill country BBQ.

One day…

There’s a good joke in there about how the hills have eyes in Texas BBQ. Beware of Long Pig Larry.

I just made sure that at least one of my local libraries will be ordering SotBS in hardcover.

Larry, you are also very much loved and appreciated for your awesome books here in the southeast and a book signing here would likely go over very well. SC, NC GA. just a few states to consider.

The prophecy of Baen was fulfilled and the book appeared on Amazon on the appointed date. The trees rejoice. Oh well, there’s always the next wildfire.

Surprised how enjoyable the book has been so far.

So when does the second book in the series come out 🙂

Larry, I am planning to be at your book signing on Tuesday. Would you prefer me to buy the book there or pre-order it to boost the numbers? Does it matter, since sales are sales?

This is the first novel of Larry’s I’ve read. Couldn’t wait for the published version so went with early access. It’s a really great fantasy with solid world building and compelling characters. The Protectors and Ashok seem like fantasy versions of The Judges and Judge Dread. I loved the fact that just when you thought you had character figured out, they would surprise you, but in ways that are also in harmony with all their development up to that point. Especially Ashok’s Brother. Even with that final line, I think the Grand Inquisitor is underestimating that man. Larry, well done.… Read more »

Thanks Larry! I just met you in Albany NY. I was could barely talk. I just shook your hand and grinned.

You were gracious and awesome.

If I show up to your book signing tomorrow in Worcester, and buy a hard copy despite already buying the eARC, will you draw a manatee holding a scoped bolt action rifle when you sign it? Inquiring minds want to know.

Bought it. Read part of it. Can I have my money back, please? I have so throughly enjoyed most of the work you have done. Monster Hunter International is one of my favorite reads, but this just misses the mark. Maybe I needed to read more than 100 or so pages and then the action picks up, but I couldn’t. My expectations may have been skewed because of what I have come to expect from your novels and this one is quite different. I am still a fan and am waiting for more from the MHI series and Grimnoir Chronicles.
