BOOK BOMB! Fearless by Zach Hill! TODAY!

Today is the day! We’re going to Book Bomb Fearless.  Please, tell your friends! http://rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&bc1=000000&IS2=1&bg1=FFFFFF&fc1=000000&lc1=0000FF&t=monshuntnati-20&o=1&p=8&l=as4&m=amazon&f=ifr&ref=ss_til&asins=1490934340

Zach Hill is a good friend of mine. He’s a member of Writer Nerd Game Night and the guy behind http://minimumwagehistorian.com/ This is his first Minimum Wage Historian book.

Fearless is about badass women of history, and it is written in Zach’s funny, irrevereant, but actually educational Minimum Wage Historian sort of way. Zach is the guy you really wish could be your kid’s history teacher, as he makes it really interesting. I’m a history geek, so it saddens me to see how incredibly boring most history classes make it. History should be awesome.

To give you an idea of how cool Zach is, twice now my oldest daughter has been given a history assignment where she had to write a paper on a specific topic. Both times she let Zach know, and he went ahead and wrote the next article on Minimum Wage Historian about that very topic so she’d have a place to start. Besides, this was samurai and conquistadors, so it wasn’t exactly like Zach was put out, but come on. That’s cool.

The reason we’re Book Bombing Zach today is becasue he recently, suddenly, lost his job and he’s currently out of work and looking. He’s got a big interview in LA this week. So I figure by helping with the Book Bomb, we spread around a worthy, good, fun book, but we also put some royalty money into the pocket of a dude who is having a tough time.

For those of you new to Book Bombs, how it works is that you get as many people as possible to buy the book in the same day from Amazon. This causes the book to move up in their hourly recalculated sales rank. The higher we can make it go in the sales rank, the more books it will sell to other people as it turns up in searchs, and success breeds success.

If we can get the book into the top 10 list of various genres, then it really helps make the difference. Having never done a history book before, I have no idea what that market is like, so this will be interesting.

So I’d ask you, tell your friends, post the link of Facebook, Twitter, whatever. Zach’s a good writer, and he personally needs a boost, so you’re doing something nice for somebody, but you’re also getting a cool book out of the deal. And if you regularly read Minimum Wage Historian like many of my readers do, think of it as a tip jar!

I’ll be updating throughout the day as we make it go up and provide totally factual Zach Hill based trivia. The one problem is that over the last year, Amazon has tweaked their methods, so the spikes aren’t as sudden, so it usually takes a little bit before we start to see real progress.

The print book is at: Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #198,621 in Books (See
Top 100 in Books
)

The Kindle eBook edition is sitting at: Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #105,628 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

EDIT:  Now here we go!

In print: Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #14,463 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

In Kindle: Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #27,635 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

So up 180,000 spots on Amazon so far today!  Let’s keep it up.

Please, tell your friends. Spread the word. I don’t want Zach to live in a van down by the river!

EDIT: Now we’re talking!

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #3,965 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

and in eBook

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #7,714 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

Top 3,000 is pretty darn good. Let’s keep going. Let’s make sure that if Zach is going to be homeless, he can at least hve the nicest refridgertor box under the overpass!

EDIT: We are still moving along, hopefully this has given Zach a good boost.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #2,938 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

And in eBook, leading all of its genres.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #4,589 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

EDIT: Still climbing. The only thing beating Zach is Lies My Teacher Told Me, which I think I read clear back in college.

Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #2,624 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

I have a question, would this be suitable for my 14 year old daughter? I’ve read the blog, and enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to the book myself.

I’ve purposely kept it clean so people of all ages can enjoy it. I had 9 and above as my target.

Thank you so much! I have three kids who fall into that age range, so this will make the rounds in my family. I’m always looking for ways to make history accessible, because I don’t trust them to be taught anything accurate in school.

That’s exactly why I wrote this book, because history text books are junk. Also, lets give girls some better role models than vapid pop stars. (Okay, maybe not Olga of Kiev.)

“because I don’t trust them to be taught anything accurate in school. ”

Just be careful of what Gaspar says. 😉

Gaspar’s lies are an extremely important addition to the history text.

Kids need to learn that not everything they see in print is true, that history contains it’s (un-)fair share of liars and finally:

It’s GOOD to laugh at idiots pushing lies as “fact”

I suspect Zach has accidentally made the most worthwhile improvement to history books in the last couple of centuries.

Also: I did my part, I burned my Amazon Prime free “borrow” for this month and bought the book as well.

I’m just about to buy Fearless. The author’s blog articles are what really sealed the deal and made me decide to get the book. I don’t know if that was a big selling point for anyone else, so I’ll just chime in and say keep up the good work on the blog, Zach.

Oh, and a few positive reviews wouldn’t hurt. Fun fact. I’m currently in LA applying for a teaching position in Japan. I’d bring you blog posts from Japan, like when the Brady Bunch went to Hawaii.

Minimum Wage Historian in Japan? There have been times when I’ve been working there (business trips, not a resident) that I’ve felt like everything around me was a little surreal. I’d *love* to see your take on the place after a few months residence.
