BOOK BOMB! The Flux Engine by Dan Willis

This month’s Book Bomb is for The Flux Engine by Dan Willis. http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&bc1=000000&IS2=1&bg1=FFFFFF&fc1=000000&lc1=0000FF&t=monshuntnati-20&o=1&p=8&l=as4&m=amazon&f=ifr&ref=ss_til&asins=B00A00LW2K

For those of you who haven’t participated in one of these before, a Book Bomb is when you get as many people as possible to buy a book on Amazon on the same day. This causes the sales rank to go up, and the higher it gets, the more readers notice. If we get enough people to buy the book, then it gets onto one of the top 20 lists, and then lots of new folks see it, success breeds success, and hopefully a good writer gains some new fans. So please, tell your friends, post on your blog, repost on TweetFacePage or whatever. Every link helps.

I do this about once a month, and I always try to pick a good writer who I know who I think could use a career boost. I always recommend things that I think my fans will enjoy.

I’ve known Dan Willis for several years now. He’s a fixture on the Utah writing circuit and got into writing by stalking Tracy Hickman (long story). Dan’s first published novels were for DragonLance and they’re good reads. They started a young adult line, and Dan wrote for that, and even had their biggest bestseller, but Wizards of the Coast shut down that whole operation and Dan was out of a gig. (that is one of the dangers of writing for somebody else’s IP).

Trying something different, Dan has put out the Flux Engine on his own as an eBook. I read the original rough draft and it is fun. Think Weird West Steampunk. So it has Bill Hickok sniping killer robots from an airship. Yes. Dan went there. It is written for young adults, but I enjoyed it. (YA isn’t the kiss of boredom like it used to be).

So check it out. Help a good writer get paid. 🙂  And please spread the word. The more we can get this out there, the more people get exposed to Dan’s work.

I’ll be updating this post through the day so we can see where we got the sales rankings up to. Right now we are at:

  1. Hey Larry! I can say, as the editor of Dan’s book, that it was a great read! It sucked me in and didn’t want to let go! I’m really hoping he sends me the sequel to edit! If he doesn’t, I’ll go buy it!

  2. Steampunk-alternate history -my great weakness (I think I own every Deadlands product ever printed). Sold, hard. And as a side note, I love seeing these – you always recommend the best stuff – maybe someday my writing will be good/prolific enough to show up in one of these 🙂

  3. Bought it. Steampunk is not my typical genre, but when it comes to supporting other self-published authors I am willing to take a chance. As for book bombs, I did enjoy Sarah A. Hoyt’s Darkship Thieves, upon your recommendation.

  4. I love steampunk stories but not so much when it comes to YA oriented stories. But so far Larry you’re right about it not detracting from the fantasitc world is building up in this book. I hope he decides to branch out into more adult oriented stories set in this same universe.

  5. Arrrgh!
Another of those dang e-book thingies…
I’m a bit of a Luddite/Bibliophile, I like something that I can hold in my hands and never have to recharge. I have score of rechargeable toys but I draw the line at books.
Is Dan Willis going to print his book? Put me down for a copy. But I gotta have a Paper Book.
