What my D6 coauthor did on Veteran's Day

I got a couple of e-mails from Mike Kupari yesterday. For those of you that don’t know him, Mike is my best friend, coauthored the thriller Dead Six with me, and is currently serving in Afghanistan as an EOD Technician. (the crazy guys that take care of IEDs).

This is the book we wrote together:  http://www.amazon.com/dp/1451637586/ref=as_li_tf_til?tag=monshuntnati-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=1451637586&adid=0YSR1G7S3HRC8B37RT4E&&ref-refURL=http%3A%2F%2Frcm.amazon.com%2Fe%2Fcm%3Ft%3Dmonshuntnati-20%26o%3D1%26p%3D8%26l%3Das1%26asins%3D1451637586%26ref%3Dtf_til%26fc1%3D000000%26IS2%3D1%26lt1%3D_blank%26m%3Damazon%26lc1%3D0000FF%26bc1%3D000000%26bg1%3DFFFFFF%26f%3Difr

He didn’t get to do any book signings when his first novel came out, because he was too busy being awesome.

He sent me the following pictures of his Veteran’s Day.

We e-mail back and forth quite a bit. This is from the last couple of emails he sent me.

You know what’s funny?  You know how you see all those Veterans Day posters and pictures and stuff, where it shows some GIs sleeping in some God-forsaken, dusty hellhole?

Yeah, I totally did that.  Whole nine yards.  Sleeping on the hard cold ground, 70-pound rucksack, and what was supposed to be a 2-3 kilometer walk turned into a 10 kilometer walk.

Here we were talking about the rapes, shootings, deaths, and Tuberculosis outbreak among the Occupy Wall Street crowd:

I have seen young Americans, recklessly brave, crawling through villages with 100 pound backpacks.  I’ve seen them sleep on the cold ground, huddled together in mud huts, crapping in holes in the ground.  I’ve watched them mourn their dead.  They eat terrible food and live off of however much water they can carry.  They brave IEDs every time they leave the FOB, and through it all, they keep telling jokes.

You know what THEY want?  A lighter pack.  To not have to walk quite as far.  In some cases, they just want their legs back.

And look at the country they’re protecting.  Tens, possibly hundreds of millions of sniveling parasites braying for Mother Government to feed them, clothe them, house them, guarantee them a job, and wipe their fucking asses for them.

It makes me sick.  America doesn’t deserve the military it has.

Anyway.  Here’s another cool guy picture.  This is what I did on Veterans Day.

  1. Agreed with Rev Paul….these “99%” do NOT speak with the Voice of America. They do NOT represent everyone that they claim to represent. I’d go so far as to say that they represent 99% of the idiots who show up for Occupy ____ events, and nobody else. These idiots do not deserve the country they’re sucking the blood out of, and I salute, as a fellow veteran, all the men and women who are out there right now defending these “99%”-ers’ right to be morons. Cuz guess what….in quite a few other countries, if they were to try this, they’d be shot. No trial. No lawyer. Just a bullet and a shallow unmarked pit. Mike, and the rest of y’all out there on the pointy end of the stick…y’all EFFIN’ ROCK.

  2. Hey Mike,

Since you aren’t here, you have to rely on the media to know about the Occupy crowd. Trust me, they aren’t even tens of millions, let alone hundreds.

If they were anything but a statistical blip, our society would collapse. They’re just a bunch of mutants self-selecting for genetic culling.

Be of good cheer, the more coverage they get, the stupider they and their supporters look. And they do look stupid.

I laugh every time a video shows the leaders telling the underlings not to report crimes, including rape, to the police. Just what you want, international awareness that your crowded, anonymous encampment is a free-rape zone.

Living in one yourself, I’m sure you can understand what it’s like. However, unlike the Afghanis and you, these victims can leave whenever they want.

Your book kicks ass, I look forward to seeing you sign it in person.

  3. Coddled, obnoxious whiny twerps gonna whine. Fence them off, leave them alone and let nature take it’s course.

  4. I think that anger about the chronically entitled is growing in our country. The other day, my six year old’s teacher told us that he wasn’t working as hard as he could, and my husband busted out this impassioned “The world doesn’t owe you a living, and if you’re too lazy to contribute, you should and will starve, so you’d better be working your butt off in school” speech. I think the speech was more driven by his feelings about the entitlement culture in general and the Occupy movement in particular than it was about my son talking during class.

I hope that if enough people, both in offices and on battlefields, express this attitude, we might be able to turn things around.

  5. Mike would probably be the first one to bust my chops for saying this, and rightfully so, but sometimes I think this country needs to be invaded just so the folks here at home with their heads up their butts could get a taste of what the world is really like. We’re not the only ones – Europe has a pretty vocal crop of leeches – but we’ve been so isolated from reality it’s easy to think the world turns for our pleasure.

  6. On Veterans day I chose NOT take up the offer for free food by any of the restaurants. Instead, I took my son out to Deer Camp and we hunted for the whole weekend. I taught him what self reliance means and we talked about the OWS idiots.
I’d rather the meal go to someone else who got hurt or sacrificed more than I did anyway. It was a privilege and an Honor to serve my country. Yes, I served honorably and proudly in the U.S.A.F. from 1986 to 1995. I saw friends die while maintaining the aircraft used in the gulf war. Lost a few good air crews that we knew well. Attended my best friend’s funeral service in Full Dress Uniform in a little town in Minnesota.
Those people are the real America, Mike. People like that all over God’s country. So ignore the MSM and their worry about a bunch of spoiled brat, hypocritical, snot nosed, lazy burnouts with ‘poor me’ syndrome who owe so much their in hock up to their eyeballs.
You are what it’s all about, Mike. God bless you and your buddies there! You send them our thanks and prayers for safe return home. We the Real 99%+ People will not forget them…ever.

    Ray

    1. Correction…Chuck Norris has a picture of Mike’s little pinky finger on his wall. Any more of Mike would be so awesome Chuck Norris might cry a tear.

  7. Finally started Dead 6 and am really enjoying it. I like the MHI patch in the first photo. Thanks for your service, Mike!

  8. Mike,
I rode my bicycle past some of the OWS crowd, and the one thing you’re missing the media’s not telling you is: THE SMELL. These truly are a bunch of smelly, long haired, love child wannabes, and they stink worse than pretty much every industrial plant I’ve worked at. I’m pretty sure your team smells better after a few weeks in the bush than these f*tards.

Check your six, stay frosty, come home safely.

    Thank you for your service.

  9. Love the RPG and other shots, dont know aobut the RPG(never shot one) but if it has a back blast anything like that AT-4(shot more then a few of them :evil Grin: ) then the back blast is NOT clear!

  10. You rock, Mike.

God willing, I’m staying in for the long haul, and get to keep doing cool shit. Hope to send you pictures of the MHI patch, me, and a minigun, hopefully someday soon.
