2 Weeks until MONSTER HUNTER ALPHA!

Yep. We are down to just two weeks until MHA starts shipping. Please tell your friends!

It will be available for the Nook or Kindle, you just need to go here: http://www.webscription.net/p-1416-monster-hunter-alpha.aspx  And there are free sample chapters there too.

Autographed copies are available from Uncle Hugos: http://www.unclehugo.com/prod/ah-correia-larry.php

If you are curious as to why I keep bugging everybody to preorder it or buy it the week it comes out, here is the explanation:  http://larrycorreia.wordpress.com/2011/06/30/i-need-a-favor-from-the-monster-hunter-nation/

And sort of related, remember that you can become a voting member of WorldCon (where I just so happen to be nominated for the Campbell award) and it is actually a pretty good deal because of all the stuff you get:  http://larrycorreia.wordpress.com/2011/05/24/why-spending-50-to-be-eligible-to-vote-for-the-hugos-is-actually-a-really-good-deal/  Clock is ticking on this one though and the voting will be closed soon.

  1. The last quarter of MHA will probably be available Friday on Webscriptions, which is good, because I’m just finishing up reading the Hugo packet.

  2. Got my early order in for MHA Saturday at amazon. I made the mistake of not preordering Hard Magic. I had underestimated the demand for it at my local BAM and of course they sold out. I was determined not to let that happen again.

  3. Any chance that Baen is going to release it early, like they did Hard Magic? I love your books, Larry, but MHA and Jim Butcher’s Ghost Story come out on the same day, and I’ve been waiting for my Harry Dresden fix for more than a year.

  4. I was watching Obama’s speech on raising the debt ceiling this morning. You should track it down if you missed it. He started listing groups that need to pay their “fair shar” of taxes and he specifically stated “best selling authors.” You damn fat cat.

  5. Is the audiobook release scheduled for the same day as the book? If so it’ll definitely been a day one purchase for me from audible.

      1. Hey Larry,
Here is the info from the Audible site as of today on their Coming Soon Page:

        Monster Hunter Alpha
        by Larry Correia
        (Coming July 26, 2011)

So that is 1 credit that I need to save til then; no ‘A Dance with Dragons’ this month for me…oh well…:-p

  6. Whew. Not sure I can wait any longer. I just finished Hard Magic (I wasn’t sure I’d like it, fool that I was, and waited until last week to order it) so I’ll have to wait two more weeks to get my next fix.

Jeez, Larry… couldn’t you just sell crack? It’s gotta be less addictive than your writing!! Now I’m going to have to buy two more copies – one for my brother and one to loan out. (Um… when’s the next Grimnoir book getting released again?)

  7. Mr. Correia,

I’m a bookseller and an avid blog reader. I don’t generally read much modern scifi (or, to be fair, very much at all, Verne and Heinlein excepted) but after much raving about the original MHI by bloggers I respect I purchased a copy. And, I might add, read the whole thing cover-to-cover after getting home from work at midnight. That 7 AM alarm was cursed out *most* thoroughly, I assure you. I digress.

I bought MHI Vendetta on the day it came out, and have recommended both to many customers over the last couple of years, as well as passed around my increasingly tattered copies to sundry friends. And yes, I’ve preordered my copy of Alpha, and will order a number of copies in for my store. That doesn’t mean, however, that I don’t faithfully check the Baen website for an early release of the ePub version…and if it’s released early, I promise to buy it early. 😀

    All the best,

    Katherine

  8. My pre-ordered copy just arrived – apparently amazon.de delivered ahead of schedule, because the “two weeks” aren’t quite up yet.

  9. Bought and downloaded yesterday. Finished it this morning. Excellent – I really didn’t see that ending coming. Now I can’t wait for the next one to find out what happens next.

    Please write quickly.

    Best wishes

  10. After this year’s Libertycon, I was eager to get back to writing my own stuff after a too long delay. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of starting MHA when I got back. So much for writing. Rebecca had to ask me if I could put the Kindle down and pay attention to her for a while. As someone said, it’s different than MHI and MHV, but different is good in this case.

  11. I LOLed at “and besides, Stark was probably high in cholesterol.” Among other things, but that one really got me. Good book, please keep them coming!

  12. I can’t wait to read this, Larry! I’m just starting Hard Magic now, but this will be next on my list.

Have you any desire to write a Western? I know the genre is not what it once was, but I would think you would be perfect for a Wild Bunch-style Western actioner. I can dream, anyway! ;^)
